After breaking all kinds of box office records last weekend ($123.4 million) the Stephen King remake IT repeated its dominance with an estimated $60 million domestic gross and an almost identical $60.3 million in foreign grosses. That puts the $35 million budgeted horror film to $218 million domestic gross in just 10 days, which is also another record for a month of September release (the previous September recorder holder was 'Crocodile Dundee' with $174 million total run). The current global tally is now $371.3 million. The studio is now turning this into a 'franchise' and has greenlighted plans for a sequel with adult actors playing the grown up versions of the children.

In a distant second place, the universally panned American Assassin overcame negative press and took $14.8 million which is similar to the opening numbers for 'John Wick' which went up to gross $43 million. While critics reviews were mostly negative (35% rotten) audiences did liked the film (73%) so in this case reviews meant nothing to regular moviegoers.

Same can be said, but in reverse scenario, with Darren Aronofsky's mother!: critics gave it mainly good reviews, but not only audiences ignored it...those who watched it plain hated it with only 42% liking it! This is by far the lowest opening of a Jennifer Lawrence movie and will go out in a limb and declare that her recent anti-Trump comments had something to do with these numbers as many pledged never to watch a Lawrence film ever again. Celebrities just needs to keep their mouths shut regarding politics and concentrate on what they do for a living. Anyway, 'Mother' bombed miserably with $7.5 million gross. Wait for its Redbox release next month.

Home Again will land in the fourth spot with $5.7 million while The Hitman's Bodyguard will take $3.6 million to round the top five.

Final numbers will be released on Monday afternoon.

Nah it will go down the the same path many critics darlings go: the elite critics will keep referencing to it like some some of masterpiece while the dvd copies will collect dust at the bottom of Walmart's $5 dvd section.
