I used to go to shows all the time, but these days only every now and then. The best show I've seen recently was Tedeschi Trucks Band. Incredible musicians, about 15 of them on stage at any given time, horn section, backup singers, etc. And Derek Trucks is by far the best guitarist of this generation.

These days I'm more apt to go into the city and see a show at a club like the Blue Note. I'll catch Kermit Ruffins a few times a year whenever he plays the area.

Got a great set of influences though, right?
I mean, there are only so many shredding-guitarists you can listen to and admire before you go ´Outstanding. But where´s the songs?´

I think this is why, Jimi Hendrix, even though technically he gets surpassed by so many guitarists since, stands out: he still had songs.

Went to a couple Mariah Carey concerts a couple years ago. One was in Tokyo in 2014 I think, and the other was in Vegas a year later. You may have heard about the one in Tokyo as it made news on TMZ with how bad Mariah performed.

It was pretty bad and there were times during the concert where I actually felt embarrassed for Mariah. Her voice was off at times and she would occasionally forget some lyrics while playing it off by all of a sudden talking to the crowd in the middle of a song.

I thought she was washed up but then her performance in Vegas was much better. I doubt her voice is a 100% and probably never will be again but it was pretty good in Vegas.

2015 I went to the annual Essence Festival in New Orleans. Different urban artists perform every year. I'm not a big concert guy as I feel music can be heard but doesn't need to be seen. Still, I enjoyed the festival.

My favorite performances were Erica Badu, Usher and Mystikal. Only other performance I recall was a Missy Elliot performance which I didn't care for as her playlist of hits and songs leave a lot to be desired and hasn't aged particularly well.

First concert I ever went to was Hootie and the Blowfish lol
2nd was No Doubt. Right at the beginning of their little run.

Best concert I've ever been to was Metallica and Godsmack at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas

I can only imagine....what it was like to endure a Grateful Dead show in the 60s and 70s (you know, before it became trendy to see them), smoked off your head, and Jerry and the boys are noodling away, the Wall of Sound PA system and everything ...you pass out for 30mins....wake up and they're still on the same song....

A band ive probably never listened to in the house but might be the best pure live act ive ever seen, 90s pan-flashers Reef. The front man seems to channel charisma and testosterone vertically out the sky, you always end up smiling through the whole show. I saw them last year and they were as great as ever

I actually saw them. Last night. Really good I thought.

    They did that song:

"Last night, he did not make it. He tried hard, but he could not make it."

    Good show.

They were absolutely 6 star amazing when I saw them recently. They must've played about 30 songs, bangbangbangbang, me hoarding my 5 pints of ale in a slow burn of subtle euphoria

Yeah. 30 is about what they did here too. Of course, their songs only tend to be around 2 minutes long. But it was a generous performance nonetheless. They played several of their newer songs which i wasn't as familiar with, but still good.

They didn't play that many new ones, to everyones relief, maybe about 25 of the 3o odd were from the first 4 albums iirc. Damn I wish I could go to that gig again, it was a great wee time to be living

Fey making the whole Arena Mexico burst in euphoria when she reprised her very first hit single from the 90s 'Azucar Amargo'. Amazing how this 44 year old singer still retains the same body she had 20 years ago as she used exactly the same outfit from her 90's video.

People who don't know much about music tend to deviate toward shit or bland music.
I remember years ago where I worked, we were discussing Coldplay and the Account Manager said "Coldplay is like music for people who don't 'like' music...like Jenny, who works on my team"

And one look at Jenny told you why: nice, inoffensive, frumpy middle-40s lady, no sex-appeal whatsoever, wore brown shoes...human version of a 'nice cup of warm tea'
