I´ve seen the trailer and read various reviews either saying it´s unmissable or just average....but then, I´m using a benchmark that most modern movie-goers are fucking thick as pigshit and/or have an attention-span of a dead goldfish...

I´m intrigued...

 

If someone can promise me that Jennifer Lawrence gets naked, I'll watch it.

Seeing nudity an a movie used to excite me...when I was 13. Now I think a coherent script, good dialogue, direction and pacing are far more important.

Yeah I know I’m blowing it out of proportion but it’s just always irked me when full grown men cite nudity or a hot chick as the point that tips a film into the good category.

 

Maybe it´s to desperately prove again and again that they´re 100%, full-blooded, gay-hating heterosexual male, etc, etc?

I dunno....

 

It’s not even just them. You wouldn’t believe how many guys share that line of thinking. About nudity in films I mean, not gay bashing, although maybe the two are linked.

Watched mother! last night.

I have no fucking idea how or why Paramount or Darren Aranofsky got the green light to make this movie.
I can see why people have been walking out of the cinema watching this.

If you're a serious movie buff, watch it.
If you're easily offended by certain religious or biblical allegories, watch it.
If you like movies that hit every emotional or mental feeling, watch it.
If you like Roman Polanski or David Lynch movies, watch it.

Such an oppressive but impressive movie which I can see why has polarised so many people but in 10 years time will be considered a total masterpiece work-of-art.

Astounding, ridiculous, nonsensical, thought-provoking, weirs brilliantly made with jet-black humor, sheer terror, and hard-hitting realisation.

I'll check it out. Not in the movies, but I'll see if its streaming on the fire stick.

 

It's the sort of movie where if you or anyone else came on and gave it a 4/10 because they hated it (for whatever reason)....I'd totally understand.

It's not for everyone...but I'd be interested in seeing whst Panchy makes of it.

 

Jennifer Lawrence isn't all that.

 

As an actress, she's one of the most versatile around.
And in this movie she doesn't disappoint...and with a supporting cast of Javier Bardem , Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer: nuff said.

Looks-wise, completely irrelevant.

 

Jennifer Lawrence briefly shows her breast but the scene is not sexy, you have to see those leaked photos for awhile back if you want to see better titty pics of her. She does wear a see-thru white shirt and looks scrumptious in it.



The movie is creepy and unsettling at times, but well-made and well-acted and kept me interested throughout. I guess that description fits all the Darren Aronofsky movies I’ve seen. It disappointed at the box office, but I thought it was a pretty good movie.

As far as her acting ability I kind of agree with this. JL ain’t bad at all, but to me it feels more like she’s being thrust in her superstar A-list role out of necessity and lack of competition even though she’s definitely worked hard for it.

Not to say she’s a bad actor, but there seems to be a dearth of young white female actresses that are truly great at their craft. That’s probably why they’re kind of plugging JL into damn near every film that needs that kind of character.

 

I watched this last night too and have to say it hit a nerve. I actually thought Lawrence was very good in this and I really felt sorry for her character and angry at the husband at all the intruders. I recommend this and it will leave some sort of impression on you.

 

Did everyone who's seen it 'get' the symbolism of the story?

 

pretty crappy movie...maybe a 5 or 6/10, but towards the end gets really boring
