There Will Be Blood appreciation thread

Crazy how 2007 produced two TIMELESS classics in There Will Be Blood and No Country. In MOST YEARS, TWBB easily wins best picture. Will always be one of my all time favorite movies... a cinematic masterpiece.

 

It was pretty awesome. Ive watched it twice and would gladly watch again.

 

One of the most compelling and well developed characters ever put on screen.

 

It's easy to think of Daniel Plainview as a villain, but it's not accurate. He's an anti-hero. The movie is a depiction of greed turning a flawed, but decent man into a monster.

 

Yeah, love this movie also. I have it ranked well in front of No Country.

 

I think both are brilliant, and I don't think its wrong that No Country won Best Picture. But technically, yeah, TWBW is overall a better movie. DDL's performance was so off the charts good that people forget that Paul Dano also turned in a terrific performance.

 

Me too. I was pissed when it did not won Best Picture.

 

As a movie buff, you should already know why TWBB didn't win.

The Academy blatantly robbed the Coen bros in 96 when Fargo didn't win. No Country winning was their way of saying sorry.

Both are masterful movies in their own way, but "like I said before", I've always felt TWBW is the better of the two.

I'd say No County and TWBW are the two best movies of the 00s... I say that with confidence.

 

Never seen it. Had an awful copy and couldn't watch it.
