No reason at all to stop this now. It's not getting any worse, and the job is nearly done. The referee needs to fuck off. MTF
Yep. He was looking since Rd5 as MTF said to stop the fight. When the Docs let it go on, this was his ace up the sleeve.
Could lipread Joshua there saying "I wouldn't have stopped it". Ref was out of order there, Takam deserved to hear the final bell.
The kid has fought with one eye for six rounds and he's taken Joshua into the championship rounds in an undisputed heavyweight title fight. The corrupt ref was looking to stop the fight at the very earliest opportunity. Hearn is, and will always be, a disgusting cunt. MTF
Quick stoppage in that situation, but Takam's face had been ripped to pieces for all night. Also, I am sure Joshua will get shit for this performance as he couldn't put Takam away. However, Takam lead at halfway against both Povetkin and Parker yet he won no rounds here. Joshua is above the rest
They may as well make Joshua-Wilder because AJ is already a star, and Wilder is never gonna be one. May as well do it in the summer of next year.
As I said in the Eddie Hearn thread, I would take Hearn as the premier promoter over the likes of Warren any bloody day of the week.
did you see his face in the interview? He had a bad cut and an average cut and the rest looked like round one. Hardly ripped to pieces. and the stoppage was British at its finest.
Hearn might be a cunt and puts up too many ppvs but he does get fights done. Sure he protects AJ but that's his meal ticket now. I would EXPECT him to go above and beyond to milk hi for as much money as he can.
Joshua won clearly and won every round bar maybe one or two for my money. But Takem was as game as they come and landed some good shots of his own on the counter and took Joshua into the later rounds, where his stamina issues slow his output down. The finishing combination was nice but Takem didn't really look like he was on his way down - it was a bad stoppage from a ref who was looking to pull the trigger from the 4th round onwards. Good fight. Was an interesting watch. MTF
It's not that he protects his fighters, though he does, it is the overt and obvious way in which he ensures his narrative perseveres which really grates. That referee was CLEARLY told to make sure that AJ kept his perfect stoppage record intact. He was looking to stop the fight as soon as the cut opened over Takem's eye, which was a very bad cut but which Takem clearly showed he was willing to fight through. This is the HW Championship of the World on the line here, not some novices battling through an early-career warm-up. The stoppage was bullshit - the guy hadn't even taken a knee and was still on his feet, throwing shots, yet the ref was preparing to dive in as soon as the first punch landed. It's garbage, and it robs the paying public of the chance to see how the championship rounds would have played out. MTF
Joshua gets hit more than Wlad or Lennox, obviously since he is way more aggressive. Incredibly enough, that is seen as a weakness, based on some comments.
His defence is poor. He moves back in straight lines and leaves his chin in the air a lot. That's a weakness. MTF
Can't disagree with that. And I would also say this has been going on so long now that it's obvious. Who was that guy Khan fought in England after his scare against Maidana?? That stoppage was shady as fuck to me.
