I've rewatched the Bond movies so many times and I agree with you.
The slow slide downwards started with The Man With The Golden Gun in 1974...

    Lol, all??
So it was a cash-grab for Connery but it's got some moments.

    I'd rate it 5-6/10

I'd say the later Moore or Brosnan efforts are the worst...Octopussy, Die Another Day, etc

Yes because Cubby Brocolli and Micheal G. Wilson pulled back from all the ridiculousness / gadgetry that reached its peak with the laughable Moonraker.

Nah. "Never Say Never Again" takes the crown as the worst Bond film ever. I couldn't believe how crappy that film turned out coming from the guy who directed 'The Empire Strikes Back'.

This scene must rank as #1 in the memory of many 90's pre-teen boys. A delicious prime Lauren Holly as a wet dream!

Can' really count that as its nothing to do with Cubby Brocolli or EON Productions.

But it was incredibly lame I agree.

Originally Kevin MClory owned the filming rights to only one novel: Thunderball
Because of a writing/production dispute with Ian Fleming over the original in the mid-60s, it took MClory ten years to even get this project started or re-written.

Because Roger Moore was already signed up with EON Productions to make 7 movies (and thus he was already scheduled to make Octopussy), the producers paid Sean Connery $3m to play Bond in this movie, a remake of Thunderball but with a different title.

    Fancy term?
It is what it is - self explanatory.

I really doubt The Other Guys makes it onto many 'Greatest Comedies in Movie History' lists let alone that scene.

Yeah it' a great movie...it just doesn't rate as high in the comedic stakes.
Mainly because Will 'Unfunny' Ferrell is in it.

    No it doesnt.
Not in any way, shape or form.
Unless you'e one of those bores who claim that 'ohhhhh of course Connery was Bond'

It's a very poor facsimile of James Bond and belongs with the original Casino Royale effort: in a shitter .

Precisely because it is utter shit that it fucking counts as the most terrible boring piece of crap with James Bond as the main character. Agent 007 here becomes plain zero! Who cares who produced it: it was still a freaking James Bond movie, not a Star Trek film nor a Rocky film. It was BOND!
