This is a matchup I've never seen done before. Who woulda won at junior middle? Martinez was faster, more athletic, and more explosive. Lara better technically skilled, and better defensively. Both with enough power in their left hands to hurt the other.
Martinez was more explosive and athletic, whereas Lara was better skilled and smarter. Thing with Lara is that he's a guy stuck in one gear. He only knows how to fight at his comfortable pace. Can't turn on the pressure or aggression when needed. I think he let's Martinez grab most of the rounds and loses a close disputed decision.
Tactical and perhaps a ugly fight neither guy fought a similar foe so it is hard to predict I think Lara was a sharper puncher and that would be the difference
Lara SHOULD beat Martinez imo, he's by far the better technician. But as PR said, the guy is stuck in one gear. Martinez was more creative and unpredictable, though admittedly, Maravilla's defense had a lot of holes.
i respect what martinez has accomplished and think he is better than lara. just think it would be a bad matchup for him stylistically
Agreed. Lara has a knack to lose big fight, and has a loser mentality. He'd do just enough to claim that he was robbed
Exactly. It's a winnable fight for Lara but his posing and inactivity would cost him any close rounds. Martinez does enough to get the decision.
Agree... Lara might win on a lot of people's cards but I think on the ones that matter Martinez gets the nod
