Planet of the Apes 50th Anniversary

On February 08, 1968 Planet of the Apes debuted amidst critics and audience raves giving cinema its first iconic surprise twist ending. The film became a box office hot and earned a special Oscar for its make-up (that category wasn't a regular one until decades later). And it established the myth that Charlton Heston most memorable roles were always the ones were he sported a beard.
