I agree with the first three.

    After Mike, I'd have:

    Ruddock
    Wilder
    Wald
    Liston
    Louis

  5. The order I already have it in, is my ranking.

I think Wilder comes just behind Lewis in raw power. I'd put Ruddock ahead of both Tyson and Foreman as well...in terms of one shot power.

Wilder's power is now being overrated. I shutter to think what a young Foreman would have done to Ortiz.

Although his power is undeniable, I can’t rate Wilder among the top until I see him drop or KO some top tier fighters with good chins in their primes.

  9. Guys with less power than others can overwhelm common opponents more quickly. There are many other factors other than raw power for stoppages.

Leonard stopped Benitez but Hearns couldn't do it. Tyson stopped Bruno in 3 rounds...Lewis struggled until the 7th round but Lewis bombed out Ruddock and Tyson couldn't. Ali stopped Bonavena but Frazier couldn't. Bowe went the distance with Tubbs....and Tyson wiped out Tubbs in two rounds. Bowe hurt Evander with every punch but Tyson couldn't hurt evander on two occasions. I need to give you lessons on how boxing works. It's not as simplistic as you think.

Yes it's likely that Foreman would have stopped Ortiz much earlier than Wilder...but power isn't the reason for that...Foreman would push people around and throw haymakers forever until they were done. Wilder is more of a "wait to land the big bomb" type of fighter.

  10. The way I see Foreman's power is like bludgeoning heavy handed power in which every single punch is like being hit with a baseball bat. Whereas Lewis and Wilder have Shotgun power when they find the opportunity to land it. so Foreman has more overall "heavyhandedness"...but if you were to measure the power of single punches on a machine like the one Drago used in Rocky 4, Lewis and Wilder's one off punches would register higher.

  11. Tyson's power is more about speed and accuracy. Sure he's heavy handed also, obviously, but it's more about how he catches you and then puts in the other punches behind it in quick succession. Tyson is more snap than concussive force. One off though I don't see Tyson punching harder than a Lewis or a Ruddock.

The whole "Tyson's power came from speed and accuracy" theory is horseshit. Even when he was a washed up, inaccurate sloth against Botha, you see what happened when he landed clean. Mike had devastating power WITHOUT the speed. The speed made his power legendary.

Sly, ALL punchers depend on velocity to generate their power. Even the slower ones. If that wasn't true, then Foreman would have had the same power in 94 that he had in 74, but he clearly did not. It's not because his hands got any less heavy... his punches lost velocity as he aged.

Wilder won't have the same power at 45 that he has now.gg

  14. I can't believe I omitted Shavers. *facepalm*

  15. I hear you...but if I was going to get hit with one punch...I'd rather get hit by a prime Tyson than I would by Wilder. but that's just me. Tyson would cause more overall damage...because of his combinations and punch repertoire...but a one off punch....I will recover quicker from a Tyson right hand than from a Wilder right hand methinks.

I can’t believe this guy is rating Wilders power over prime Tyson’s. This is just nuts.

Wilder hit Charlie Z flush and the lil crazy fuck bounced right back up.

Ya think Charlie Z would bounce right back up after getting hit by Mike or George?

All the proof that is needed is that Shavers was a contender in the deepest heavyweight division ever despite being a minus fighter in every single category except for power and willingness to fight

His power was literally all he had and we're still talking about him decades later

Just an utterly retarded puncher ...

  19. Remember...power is ALL Wilder has. Tyson had power, plus speed, plus accuracy, plus punch repertoire/combos, positioning etc etc etc.
Tyson was a better puncher...I'm just saying that I think Wilder has more tonnage on each individual punch. Remember Wilder is taller with those longer arms....he has that Hearns' type snap to him. It's very damaging compared with shorter armed punchers.

I agree with sly on this, i dont think its impossible that wilder has a harder one punch than tyson had.

Tyson was a much more effective puncher though, but that doesn't mean he punched harder

I think once you delve into minutae like this, you are playing in the realm of science and since nobody here has fuck all for data or a way to measure it, it becomes a contest of who can spin a more attractive yarn of bullshit

We can measure that Ruddock punched "Like a fuckin mule kick! Excuse my French."

OMG I can't take this anymore.

Why are you all riding Wilder dick so hard?? The man's power is overrated as fuck. Who in the fuck is Louis Ortiz anyway ? When did Ortiz's chin become some magical measuring stick for power? 10 rounds to take him out nevertheless .

This is the Samuel Peter ko'ing Jeremy Williams all over again. One decent ko and everyone's on that dick. I said Peters power was overrated back then (and it was) and I'll say the same thing here .

Let's see Wilder blast out someone credibly durable such as Wach or old man Briggs or someone like that .Hell even mr.glass szpilka took Wilder's best shots for 10 rounds till literally jumping into a bomb. Ko'ing bums doesn't put you in a same league as Lennox Foreman Tyson Ruddock etc. Etc.. impress me against a quality chin until then

Get the fuck out of here

Those 3 are very similar in terms of heavy handedness. Tyson's edge in quickness makes him more of a threat, though.

    Shavers
    Louis
    Liston
    Ruddock
    Wlad
    Wilder

I need to see more of Wilder before putting him up there. I like Ortiz and all , but so many heavies on this list would KO him sooner than Wilder did.

See fucking exactly. Charlie is 140 lbs and took a flush left hook and barely dropped for a split second . If Tyson landed a left hook on Charlie he'd go from Charlie Z to Charlie zzzzzzzzzzzzz

  26. Didn't Shavers have to load-up on his big shots though?
As opposed to guys with effortless technique?

  27. Fuck off.

You can say that about hand speed, chin...anything. Nobody here has measured anything scientifically. Should we all just shut up, crawl in a hole and die?
