Very much doubt? Wtf LOL? Doubt? LOL! No fucking shit he couldn't press 320 lbs overhead. That's like holding shaquille o'neal over your head.

He thought it was 60 pounds and probably claims he can do 120.

  2. Dude could be a competitive weight lifter, how should I know? lol

  3. Can you imagine Joshua in the ring with tiny Frazier? Joshua would go through him like a hot knife through butter.

Apparently Frazier was unaware of the common practices of steroid use and weight training in boxing in the 70s

I bet Bob Hazelton could lift a lot more ... and that would still result in him getting his head handed to him by Joe Frazier

More idiotic fucking drivel from Dr Jesus

Jom assumed that the weight was considerably less (I haven't watched it all).

I know a world class welterweight from that era who trained with about 50 lbs

Yeah, just watched joe frazier lifts, and was assuming it was 60 and 70 without the bar (so 105 and 115 with the bar). But the weight they gives doesnt really make sense.
On the 170 pounds lift joe choked on, the plates he uses are 45 pounds on each side it seems, and there is barely anything else on the bar. Doesnt add up to 170

Maybe you're right. I didn't really look at the plates.

    It says 160 on screen.

How much can you lift overhead like this JOM?

    On one lift, 235

235 is easily twice as much as 160

And how much do you weigh? And what's the norm, of this style of lifting compared to your own weight?

    What's 160 X 2, Docteur?

And even more importantly, how would you make out one on one in a fistfight with Joe Frazier?

As i said before, i just watched the joe lift, so didnt get the weight right (though the weight they gave doesnt seems credible)

That is a very very good result with this technique

I'd like to try this myself, just out of curiosity.

I don't like weights and don't believe in them for boxing, but I do have a pullup bar and can lift my own weight (90 pounds) about 40 times in a row.

In all seriousness I weigh about 150.

I can pick up a 250 pound man easily by squatting down then lifting, so I suppose that's kind of a deadlift?

Obviously that's very different to just lifting a weight over your head, so I'd be interested in how much. Pretty sure more than 160.

Likewise I had no idea you were such a big sweaty arab, I figured you were more like 160.

if you don't lift often and weight 150, it's pretty much impossible you can lift 160 pounds this way. I'd say 100-110 max

That type of lifting is surprisingly difficult. There have been events in the strongman competitions where the best have lifted about 290-pound rocks, which is less than they weight themselves. It is much easier with a bar of course, but considering their deadlift or bench results you'd expect them to get more.

As for Frazier, his technique sucked and he was only about 205 lbs. Considering that this lift is very useless for a boxer, it isn't that big of a surprise.

The fighers I have seen doing weight training have ususlly done much shorter moves (in bench not lowered the bar to their chest but only about halfway) or, when standing, lift the bar not up but in 45 degree angle. First and foremost the moves have been explosive which means they don't train anywhere close to maximum weights
