I was like 13 years old. Came away wishing I'd been able to see a different movie.

Black Magic Woman (1991) Starring Mark Hamill & Apollonia Kotero. The premise sounded intriguing an erotic thriller with supernatural tones based on the classic Santana song. However Hamill was wrongly cast here. So was Apollonia. They had zero chemistry even in the 'sex scenes' (which were very tame for an 'erotic thriller'). Hamill was here just for a pay day as he phoned his performance from a remote place in Tatooine. Apollonia simply can't act. It was weird seeing Luke Skywalker wearing a speedo and jumping on top of a bed nervously. The film was so clumsily directed and edited that you wondered if a teenager was directing this turkey.

I watched this on Showtime because at that time the alternatives were a repeat of 'My Own Private Idaho' on HBO or watching Oprah.
    I should have watched Oprah...

I damn sure couldn't bring myself to sit through the entire 3-hr abomination of a movie, but a few weeks ago I sat through like an hour of Pearl Harbor PURELY for shits and gigs. Truly some of the worst acting, worst dialogue, and worst directing in cinematic history.

You should have gone straight to the goodies in the last 45 minutes.

Movies you saw in the theatre. Although I guess on tv there are sometimes limited options.

Nah! I have never done that. However I have watched films I had no interest at all when I go to the movies with my wife. Rarely I have enjoyed those.

Yeah, we should stick to movies we've seen in the theatre. We've all seen tons and tons of movies we regret or just for shits and giggles on TV.

I just saw "A Wrinkle In Time" a couple weeks ago because the family wanted to get out, there wasn't much else playing and the wifey kind of wanted to see it.

I'm not really the audience for a movie like that, but it was pretty forgettable...................for me anyways.

This is going to surprise Panch and Double L, but I went to see Fahrenheit 911 back in 2004. I was out and about with the wife and she was actually on call duty for her work so we ducked into a movie we didn't really care if we had to duck back out of if she got called into work.

About 3/4 of the way through, I was grateful when she got called in, because I found the doc to be pretty fucking shit and misguided. Similar stories have been told by other documentarians about 1000% more accurately and honestly.

Some pretty special affects here and there on the 3D screen we watched it on, but for the most part it was pretty lame.

I used to see all kinds of movies I had no idea about, either because I'd already seen everything, or there was nothing else showing.

Some others I recall from the theatre:

    End of Watch
    Picture Perfect
    Haiku Tunnel
    Sexy Beast
    City of Lost Children
    Buffalo 66
    The Good Girl

Same here ... I'm no fan of the Bush administration or going to Iraq but that shit was way too easy to poke holes in ... not a documentary at all, just a propaganda exercise

It was the wifes turn to pick a movie, and unlike a lot of you schoolkids I don't get all fucking giddy at the prospect of seeing yet another exercise in rote template moviemaking by Marvel Studios.

i pretty much always go to a cinema for the 'going out' factor rather than the actual movie

Yeah. Exactly. "Let's go to the movies! Now...what are we going to see?"

    As opposed to:

" I must see hollywood's latest movie because the trailer on tv really caught my interest."

Only one that I can remember. My uncle took me to see Lethal Weapon 2 when I was a kid. It was in the middle of the afternoon yet it was sold out. I don't recall what the other options were (probably all shit) and he picked whatever Star Trek film was playing at the same theatre. I was never into Star Trek and I don't think he was either. I suppose he just figured it was the next best choice. He ended up falling asleep and snoring next to me while I watched the colossal bore.

Scenario number one is a very dumb way to toss money away in what could be a very poor choice of a film when maybe the masterpiece classic will be opening the following weekend.

That was 'Star Trek V: The Final Frontier" (1989) directed by William Shatner and without a doubt THE worst film in the franchise.

True. And that's why I mostly went to matinees. But agree. Most movies are a waste of money actually, when you figure you can stream them later.

I don't even care if they would be free. I'd just rather not go to the theatre and haven't been in years.

Mission To Mars. One of the worst movies I have ever seen.
