Do the Bee Gees count as English or Australian? If we are saying they're Aussies then it's clearly them.
Australia has had some really awful shite Olivia Newton John, Kylie Minogue, that Natalie Iguana or whatever the fuck her name was, Keith Urban, INXS (which, to be fair is like Zeppelin compared to some of the shite named so far) , Sia, Iggy Azalea
I hadn't listened to much INXS before Hutchence did the deathwank, or since to be honest, but I liked that one big hit they had. With the black and white video.
I think they're bloody awful to be honest The Bee Gees are unbelievably cheesy and completely fake but they could really write songs ... utter nonsense words but catchy melodies galore The slick, meticulous schlock of the Little River Band yielded some hilarious gems too ("Lady", "Reminiscing", "Lonesome Loser", etc)
you forgot to mention Wolfmother i think a list of awful pop stars can be named from any country, to be fair
The problem is Australia has a serious dearth of quality compared to the other big countries of the English speaking world... Canada has loads of shite but they've also produced great artists as well ... Australia has to legitimately consider shite like AC/DC as a top 5 contender all time ... scary stuff
Canada has way more shit...Nickelback, Simply Plan, Sum41? i know you're a huge Rush fan, but you have to look at the whole picture objectively
I hate Rush The Band, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell ... all from Canada Favorite Aussie band... you've merely underscored my point... naming one is basically impossible because only a twat would have any of the famous Aussie musical acts as a "favorite" anything It's completely plausible that there could be a very cool person who lists any one of The Band, Neil Young or Joni Mitchell among their favorite artists... it's extremely unlikely there's anybody cool that has any of Australia's most famous acts among their favorites overall
Nah I'm saying the thread is shit ... might as well be "best band to come out of Zimbabwe" because you've got fuck all
that's the point, foolio so you think 'best band out of England' or 'best band out of the US' would make more sense?
How about a Best Cheating-Sportsman From Australia thread? Hot topic and, as I often suspected, not short of candidates or worthy discussion either.
being objective (and not a fag), i'd say that lots of people internationally like AC/DC and put them as one of their fav bands...same with the Bee Gees INXS i think gained a bit of a UK following didnt they
Australia's most famous bands have a lot of transplants in the ranks. Bee Gees are obviously from Manchester and the family moved to Australia in the late 50s. AC/DC's most famous line up (after Scott's death) is 80% British. Angus and Malcolm Young are from Scotland, Brian Johnson is from Newcastle and Cliff Williams is from Romford (grew up on the Wirral.) The Little River Band had an English lead vocalist(Shorrock), a Dutch guitar player (Birtles), and an American bass player (Nelson replaced Pellicci in 1980.)
The Little River band has one of the best videos ever made and one of the worst videos every made. "Reminiscing" is a cool video. They're kicking back, having some drinks and smokes and playing pool in some little private club. "Man On Your Mind" is ridiculously bad. They all look like stalkers and registered sex offenders in that video.
I think ACDC are highly overrated. I like a little of their stuff but I'm by no means a fan. Bon Scott had an awful voice.
