Just 6 months after the biggest boxing bout in history, it looks like Floyd Mayweather Jr is going to return the favor and fight Conor McGregor in a UFC-rules, MMA-fight in the Octagon.

The fight, that had boxing fans, historians and Fightbeat Wankers frothing at the mouth with sheer disbelief and faux-anger (yet all of them tuning in to watch it and also, making my official Mayweather-McGregor thread the most posted-on in FB history), it seemed it was all over after Mayweather utterly dominate the hapless McGregor.

But no, it seems that these two cretins are going to yet again, have the general-publics´ pants down and make an estimated US$500m+, between them.

And now, with the ´help´ of Tyrone Woodley, it looks like Mayweather Jr is going to needa mere 4-6 months of training Muay Thai leg-kicks and Brasilian Jiu-Jitsu hold and wrestlingto be able to hold his own in the Octagon .

And if anyone can do it, King Mayweather can.
    Right, kids?

You heard it from The Mustard, first!

I’d be surprised if it happens. I figure Floyd would have to have spent all his money and not doing well promoting if he fought MMA.

I will believe it when I see it.

Floyd should do the honorable thing and venture into Conor’s world.

for 9 figures i reckon mayweather jr would be willing to endure the possibility of internet humiliation via memes and videos that come along with a loss to "the irishman". whether or not he is broke, it never hurts to make an easy 9 figures.

who wins if its a cage fight where only punching is aloud?

Who's going to or even wants to see or pay for that???

Fact is, almost everyone on here either said Mayweather x McGregor would never happen (it did), were adamant they weren't interested in it (they all posted numerous times on the thtead) and vowed not to watch it (liars & hypocrites)

Floyd would do terribly in the Octagon. The reason for that is because he's a master boxer. His prowess as a boxer will actually work against him here. Someone like Deontay Wilder would have a better shot in UFC, IMO, because he's such a wild unconventional fighter. Such a guy can adapt better to the unpredictable conditions of MMA. But Floyd would always revert to boxing and wouldn't kick or think about take down defense...he'd go out like Toney, another master boxer.

Well apparently Floyd thinks his wrestling skills are fine.
When asked how he rated them he said "they're about a 7/10"

Floyd would rightfully be a huge underdog, but IF he were to win...

MMA is done for. The sport's credibility would be beyond repair.

done for? Pls don't be extra. It wouldn't hurt it one bit if a Canadian curler ko'ed Conor. People just enjoy fights . Period.

“Done For” is a Stretch, But You’re Exaggerating Just as Bad, Suggesting Floyd Beating Conor in an Octegon WOULDNT Hurt at All...

As Alluded to Earlier In the Thread, Floyd’s FINESSE Oriented Style of Boxing Should Rightfully Lead to an EMBARASSINGLY 1-Sided MMA Loss...

If Floyd were to Beat MMA’s Marquee Guy on MMA Terms, it Certainly WOULDNT Be Good for that Sport...REED Readily Acknowledged Boxing NEEDED Floyd to Not Only Beat, but STOP McGregor...

Same Rule Applies if Floyd Steps Foot in an Octagon...

People would get over it quickly and go back to watching fights. Same goes for conor beating Floyd in boxing . People would laugh make some jokes and go back to watching fights . You think people would be so embarrassed by their sport's representative loss they would stop watching it and start watching figure skating ?

The QUALITY of Both Sports Would Be Diluted, Which Would Eventually HURT Viewership...

Think about it, Had McGregor Beaten Floyd, Boxing Would Now Be LITTERED w/MMAists Looking to Cross Over, Based On Higher Wages...

And if Floyd were to Beat Conor in an Octagon, Every Journeyman or Scrunb Level Boxer (Even Loooooooong Retired One’s) Would Want to Give MMA a Shot...

yeah, but if both things happened, it wouldn't take too long for normality to be restored. The mmaist would get slaughtered, as would the scrub boxers (bar the occasionnal 1 punch ko)

You SAY That, But the Hypothetical Consists of a Boxing NOVICE Beating an Elite Level Boxer in a Boxing Match, and an MMA NOVICE Beating an Elite Level MMAist In an Octagon...

Neither is Going to Happen, and Would HARM Both Sports if it Did...

The Opinion That NEITHER Sport Would Be Affected in Those Instances is Based On a FAULTY, Borderline Implausible Premise...

Agreed, we can sugar coat it any way we want to but had Connor beat Floyd in August, it would habe been terrible for boxing. Same thing if Connor gets beat in MMA vs an old, inexperienced boxer. The sport would be looked out as a joke by the mainstream.

Sylvia was still world class when he was whooped by Mercer, but the saving grace for MMA was that it was on a small shitty card in a small shitty town. Had it been the main event of a UFC card with non stop mainstream coverage (like Floyd-Connor undoubtedly will), then it would have been disastrous for the sport imo.

I think Floyd should have some experience first, make him look like a monster utilizing his natural skills, a gimme fight, against a guy with poor stand up, Khabib for example?.......:emoji_relieved:

I'd prefer a 15-second sparring clip, where Floyd would demonstrate his unorthodox wrestling skill

In an ideal world? The rubber match would be a tag team fight between Floyd & Conor vs two starving male lions.

I'd sure as Hell pay top PPV dollar for that one.

Yep boxing will win every single time. If the stoppage of the unstoppable Tim
Sylvia doesn’t tell you that, I don’t know what will.
