...and then slowly but surely became shit.

    Like, really shit.

Heard that horrendously annoying song that samples Carlos Santana on ´Wild Thoughts´ by DJ Khaled and lololol, Rhianna and it then got me thinking how shit Santana´s music steadily became from the 1980s onward and how much more of a money-grabbing arsehole he became in equal measure.
e.g. ¨Maria Maria' was and will always be that feel-good summer song that speaks to women, and 'Wild Thoughts' is an extension of that summer song vibe that is timeless," Santana added. "I am honored that DJ Khaled, Rihanna and Bryson felt the intense intentionality of 'Maria Maria' and have shared this summer vibe with the world.”
    What a cunt.

So, list them: artists who had amazing periods or work in their early or formative years and then just ended up unlistenable or irritatingly awful.

Santana is a great example, was a hard latin rock artist, then prog/mystical, then fucking latin disco music, culminating in duets with Matchbox 20.

Pretty much starting with Inner Secrets in the late 70s...but to be fair, they'd exhausted that genre by then...hence only 4 or 5 albums released during the 80s and then the hideously commercial Supernatural...as you mentioned.
