"Hatred" is a strong word. Let me change that to "Pungent Distaste".

    Thanks.

I was referring to your statement that the movie studios don't care if their movies make money. That's ludicrous.

I believe you badly want to debate something, I have no interest in debating.

Don't you have a letter to write to your local senator about decreasing Disney's corporate tax rate even further?

I actually agree with Double L. Studios sweating whether these movies will make money or not is the exact reason they tend to suck half the time. The studios micromanage their directors, follow the same formulas over and over and continue to do remakes because they know there is an already established fan base that can banked on. So I think they do care, to the point that they’re letting the bottom line kill creativity.

It didn’t look well cast. They didn’t show the villain in any of the commercials so he was probably lame. Looked like it would be more generic sci-fi than Star Wars. Maybe I’ll like it.

There are literally more “new” shows and movies being made now than any point in history.

They’ll surely go back up shortly. Might be a good time to buy in now fellas.

That is definitely true and it completely defeats most of my point.

On its second weekend Soylo had a disastrous 66% drop earning only $29.2 million for a two weeks domestic total of $148.8 million. At this rate it will be nearly impossible that it might even reach the domestic opening weekend total of 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' of $220 million for its entire domestic run! This is disaster! Internationally it gained an additional (albeit anemic) $30 million for a worldwide total of $264.1 million. This is even lower than 'Justice League' numbers! And WB showed the door to Zack Snyder after that fiasco. Are you listening , Disney? Kathleen Kennedy needs to go!!

Disney pretty much expected this to happen. It was reported as such when they had to hire an acting coach for the star during production and fired their first directors midway through filming.

One can’t be surprised if fans don’t enjoy the taste of a shit sandwich and this film was doomed very early on. The best Disney can do is learn from their mistakes and try to prevent a reoccurrence.

Their mistake wasn't this film, but 'The Last Jedi'. That film was so hated by fans and regular moviegoers that they decided to skip the next one (Solo) as protest.

Glad it bombed. No one was asking for a Han Solo prequel. It bombed despite the media drooling over it. Justice League was trashed and Solo was praised by the press.

ABSOLUTELY. There's only ONE reason why solo has bombed and that reason is the film which preceded it. The Last Jedi ruined the franchise.

I think it’s more a case of TLJ not creating the momentum to carry a spin-off like TFA did for Rogue One.

The real test of whether it ruined the franchise will be the third film. It’s a tall task but they can recover with a great film.

There’s no recovery after The Last Jedi unless they remake it

Rogue One was shit. I don't get the praises. TLJ did irreparable harm to the franchise. IF they were smart, they'd make it a dream sequence of Finn's and have him wake up out of the coma again and start from there.

How was the media drooling all over it? Every press release I read prior to release was negative. There was the story of the directors being fired and replaced, the story of the main actor being so bad they had to bring in an acting coach for him and there was the story that Disney was expecting and bracing for the film to flop. Critics can say what they want after release but early negative perception is hard to remove once it’s put out there.

Maybe the backlash of TLJ did hurt Solo’s box office sales but let’s not pretend Solo had some rosey expectations that it failed to meet. Even Disney saw the writing on the wall.

If there isn't any kind of change at the Lucasfilm management within the next few weeks, then you are right.

It's Star Wars. Which one of the movies failed to do 1 billion at the box office besides this one? This one may not even make 300 million. It's a disappointment no matter how you look at it.

Mongoloids like you use it so much that any meaning it had has long since been lost. Pedophile panch would call his mailman an "SJW" for saying hello to him at this point
