All Thurman jokes aside, it's a shame.... both Spence-Thurman and Crawford-Thurman are compelling fights the boxing world wanted to see. Is it possible this dude just lost all his hunger after beating Cherry Garcia and doesn't wanna fight anymore? It's very surprising. Years ago, Keith struck as the type of guy who win or lose would at least ATTEMPT to fight all the elites. He seemed like he had a legitimate love and passion for the sport.
I think he’s done. The pressure to defend the title against the top guys plus the money and I guess “marriage” seems to have taken away all desire and hunger. He was chasing Pacquiao last year and when it became apparent that fight wasn’t going down, his elbow was suddenly injured. Yet prior to that, he was “ready to go for November” if Manny was available. I don’t believe anything he says.
Talking about thurman ducking Spence would make sense if the guy hasnt been injured since Spence became relevant in the division. I like the guy, but spence groupies are ridiculous. They've been claiming the guy is avoided even when he was a nobody
Spence was an olympian, not sone unknown who dropped outta the sky one day. He's been known in division for almost 5 years now. If anything, Thurman came outta nowhere.
Thurman wouldn’t be catching the heat if he was following up on his boastful claims when he came on the scene. But if just FEELS that whenever it came to Spence, he was no longer that same confident fighter he always portrayed himself to be.
Thurman resume is stellar recently. Hard to blame him there. As for his answers concerning Spence, they are honest and in no way are they a proof that he is ducking him. Only a fool would think that he would face a killer like Spence immediately after a huge surgery and a long layoff. He's supposed to come back in August or September. I expect him to have another rather easy fight soon after that, but if he's still not intested in fighting Spence, afterward I'll be the first to call him a ducker. But not before
