    Good battle.

I'd say the first Bourne is the best single movie out of both franchises, but that Mission: Impossible is better overall. That first Bourne movie was shockingly good and made the entire genre up its game.

I'm in the minority in that I've never been a fan of the MI franchise. It's not a SHIT franchise like Fast & Furious... it just doesn't grab my attention.

Joe King is correct that The Bourne Identity is the best movie of the two franchises, so there's your answer.

M.I 3, 4 & 5 shit all over every Bourne film combined and that includes the ridiculous opinion about The Bourne Identity.

Which MI is the one with Philip Seymour Hoffman as the villain? I liked that one.

last two MIs or so were pretty good. but the first one was pretty hum-drum, and the John Woo MI 2 (?) with thandie newton was poor.

the last matt damon bourne was poor, but bournes 1-3 were different level.

overall give it to bourne. the first ones were genuinely innovative film-making, imitated by plenty others since.

I find the Bourne films have almost zero replay value which is why I can’t give them the lead here. Plus M.I is just too awesome excluding the ones you mentioned of course. M.I.II should have never happened but it took a few films for Hollywood to realize how truly overrated and terrible John Woo was/is.

    Im on the same page.
I like both franchises. but the Bourne movies, just lack a little with repeated viewings.
Well made though and thankfully, put an end to the ridiculous way Bond was going....

I´d say MI I, III, IV and V are all rewatchable popcorn movies.

Fallout blows all other movies in both franchise out of the water. Fucking fantastic. 9.5/10

M:I movies are disposable generic popcorn entertainment. The first three Bourne films stayed with me for days after watching each one. The third one became very influential for its fast paced no editing long fight scenes. awesome films. I can't differentiate one M:I film from another; they are just not very memorable. I was never happy with Cruise/Hunt just being the central character when the appeal of the series was that it was all about team work; not just a couple of secondary helpers for the 'main agent'.

Basically, movie-dogshit for ´pure-simpleton-low-IQ-waste-of-sperm-and-egg fucks´ like Joking and Black Beauty to jerk off to because they don´t know fuck-all?
Yes, I can see how that would work!

Bourne franchise is just a bunch of average James Bond level forgettable films with low rewatchability value. I didn’t even bother to watch the last one.

Even Matt Damon got bored with the franchise right up until the moment he saw Jeremy Renner take over his role, then he got jealous and wanted back in.

    Mission: Impossible was great.
Don't remember much about any of the others except Phillip Seymour Hoffman in III and annoying Simon Pegg in the recent ones.

But then, it's solely a Tom Cruise franchise for everyone else to tag along to.

Let´s face it though, Mission: Impossible TV series shits on anything Cruise cames up with.
Plus, they had one of the greatest opening credits sequences evah:

I used to love me some of this back in the day...but to say it "shits on" Tom Cruise's MI films is nonsense.

It's not even close. I finally caught the borne movies and no way. Mission Impossible blows it away. And they keep getting better. Very old school story telling with new new school stunts and action.

The one before last wasn’t that good. Only ones it was better than were 1 & 2.

2 was easily the worst one of the whole franchise thanks to the John Woo effect. I’m going to see it this weekend as it’s just starting here in Japan.

    The Bourne series...

I like the MI series too but the replay value doesn’t quite hold up for me.

Ghost protocol was excellent. They all were except 2. Part 1 was great.
