It's indeed a travesty when a superfight doesn't happen while both guys are in their primes....

But in THIS case, neither guy is ducking the other. It's simply a promoter/network obstacle which will never be resolved.

Garcia-Spence is an awful fight for boxing. That's like Kell Brook taking on GGG; smaller guy is guaranteed to lose and then his stock has dropped and other matchups his size are no longer as attractive plus he's mentally never the same again.

 

For the record, it'd be dumb for fans to hold it against Garcia if he loses to Spence. But boxing fans are dumb so that's exactly what will happen.

 

Obviously Mikey is wanting to move up to 147 to face Spence because he and his team know full-well a Lomachenko fight isn´t going to happen.
Probably talked to Spence about it last Saturday after the Easter fight.

The fact of the matter is this: if Garcia moves up and takes on the huge prime Spence and gets destroyed Norris-Taylor style, his shine will be severely dimmed. That’s just a fact. Whether it’s dumb for fans to hold it against him or not...it’s just a fact.

 

I agree it's a fact. Although, I would clarify that if he is competitive, even if he loses, his stock could potentially go up. There's examples of this in history (e.g. arguello/pryor).

Ultimately, if Vasyl Lomachenko WANTS To Face Mikey Garcia, he’ll DEMAND His Promoter Makes the Fight.

If he stayed with top rank he Coulda got pacquiao. A winnable fight that woulda vaulted him into a legit draw even more so than spence would. We'll see how it works out for him

Yes but there's battles you can win and ones you can't. IMO...little 5'6" Garcia has no chance against a huge Welterweight like Spence who is also in his prime and who is also a top P4P talent. Even if they were the same size it'll be a 50-50 fight let alone the fact that Spence is so much bigger.

 

Just unify and stay at 135. Easter was a good opponent and that's a very good win. The Lomachenko fight will happen.

Garcia looks soft at 135. He has no business going up to 147. 140? Sure, if it makes sense.

 

This and the case that there isn't enough money for these guys to do it.
