Looks like this one might happen in October.

Tank picking on yet another featherweight...

    How impressive of him...

In Fairness to Tank, It was Mares Who SPOKE This Fight Into Existence., Prior to the RE w/Santa Cruz...

It'll Be as 1-Sided as Spence vs. Mikey, Possibly WORSE...

Would like to see garcia vs tank. If boxing were a real sport, that is the matchup we'd get.

No, Loma-Garcia is the real matchup.

Tank is not on the level of Loma or Garcia. Whether he will be one day remains to be seen, but he sure as Hell ain't there yet.

Mares OPENLY Spoke of Fighting Tank Davis PRIOR to the RE w/Santa Cruz...

It’s Not Like Tank’s Picking On a Little Guy. A Little Guy Called Tank Out.

It’s Spence vs Mikey on a Lower Level.

So? Just because Mares is calling him out, doesn't mean Tank has to fight him.

Tevin Farmer has been calling Tank out for YEARS, and just won a belt at 130. Those two dislike eachother, and there's the whole Philly/B-More rivalry.

A Davis-Farmer unification SHOULD be next.

You Know as Well as REED Boxing is the LAST Sport Where a Dude Can Just IGNORE Being Called Out.

As Preposterous as it Sounds, Errol Spence Would Subject Himself to CRITICISM If he Declined Mikey Garcia’s Challenge. Ditto for Gervonta Davis and Abner Mares.

Tevin Farmer JUST Fought Like 2 Weeks Ago and is JUST Now On the Radar, So to Speak. He’ll Be There and REED Has Little Doubt Tank Will Face Him In Due Time.

Mares is a Much Bigger Name, Multi Weight World Champion, Former Olympian, Producer of Respectable Numbers on Showtime Telecasts. And He CALLED FOR the Fight.

If Mares is SERIOUS, Tank Would Be Dumb NOT to Accommodate Him.

nah, nobody would criticize Tank if he didn't fought Mares. Especially considering that he lost his last two meaningful fights

Yeah. And I don't think Spence would get much criticism if he blew off Garcia's challenge.

More Than Any Other Sport, Boxing Fans SPECIALIZE in Dissatisfaction...

"Spence Talked All That Shit about Wanting BIG Fights, Mikey Offers Him 1 and he Declines"...That'd Become the Mantra of Those Not as Enamored w/Spence as Others...

IIRC it was the Klits who were criticizes for not fighting him. and it's a much different situation. he was, at the time, a long time champ at the same weight, not a lower weight guy coming off a loss

    No, it was Lennox...

And the THREAT of Ruiz Beating Him Was As Low or LOWER Than Mikey Beating Spence or Mares Beating Tank...Nonetheless, Posters on This Site Bitched Because Lennox Never Faced Him...

yeah, but again, he was a HW champ at the time. Completely diferent situation to Mares-Davis. Mares is not fighting at the same weight class than Tank, and he lost his last 2 meaningful fights

    TOTALLY different situations, REED.

Mikey is undersized and WILL lose to Spence, but it's understandable why Spence is taking the fight. It represents the highest profile fight of his career, his biggest payday, and DESPITE being undersized....the fact remains that Mikey is undefeated and a consensus top 5-6 P4P fighter.

Mares, on the other hand, has never been that good at 126... LET ALONE moving up to 130.

We're talking about a guy who was at his peak at 118 for Christ Sake!

Mares was NEVER really all that good to begin with to be honest, certainly never CLOSE to the level of Mikey Garcia.

He's nothing more than a name for Tank to pad his record with.

Kinda a lose-lose, because if Mares gives Tank trouble, then Tank's stock drops.

I don't anticipate that though. As long as long Tank trains hard, we'll wipe his ass with Mares.

Ruiz was a "Champ" Under Shady Pretenses...

Lennox was Undisputed After Beating Holyfield, Nonetheless, Don King "Convinced" the WBA to Strip Lennox Anyways...Despite the CORRUPT Nature of This, Fans ON THIS SITE Held it Against Lennox Lewis that he NEVER Faced John Ruiz...

Again, Boxing Fans Bitch about EVERYTHING...If Tank PASSED on Mares, There'd Be Those Questioning Him for Sure...

Yes, Mares has Lost his Last 2 Meaningful Bouts, But They were CLOSELY Contested Losses Against a Pretty Good Fighter in his Own Right, Leo Santa Cruz...It's NOT as if Mares' Stock Dropped Any, in Those Losses...

Tank Would Be STUPID to Pass on Mares, ASSuming Abner's Serious...

Mares Will Probably Be the Highest Profile Fight of Tank's Career and His Biggest Payday...Being on the Floyd-McGregor Undercard was the Biggest EVENT Tank's Been Part Of, but the Dude He Fought Didn't Have the Name Recognition of Abner Mares...

agREED Mares is NATHAN More than a Name for Tank, but it's Still EARLY in Gervonta's Career...Beating the Shit Out of a Guy MOST Hardcore Fans Have Heard Of Only HELPS His Career...And He Can Always Unify with Farmer in the Bout After...

I'm not criticizing Tank to take the fight,, as you said, it's a relatively high profile and lucrative fight which he will probably win easily. I'm just disagreeing with you on the notion that people would have criticized tank for not taking it.

Nobody really cares about Mares nowadays, and he hasn't done anything lately that gives him the right to claim that tank is ducking him
