There are many, of course. Larry Holmes is the obvious stand out, though. He looked so smooth in throwing it too. Marvin Hagler had the best southpaw jab for sure and he sure made us of it. Robinson’s jab was a whip. And he not only threw it a lot, but it flowed so effortlessly when he did. Others?
Pernell Whitaker had a fantastic jab Joe Louis for sure ("like a lightbulb stuffed up your nose being smashed", Jim Braddock said) Thomas Hearns Ali Sonny Liston
All great choices (except perhaps Whitaker). Riddick Bowe had a nasty jab. Larry Holmes of course is perhaps the best ever.
if there's a fight anywhere near his prime where the guy didn't land it practically at will on his opponent, I must've missed it... fantastic jab
Yeah. That sweat covered glove when it made impact...phew! If you were in a street fight, would you pop the jab?
Agreed about Rahman. His was very meaty and you could see its thick veins bulging as it forced its way through the target, drawing blood
Floyd Mayweather Jr's jab is/was the cornerstone of his whole game. That he could throw a solid jab and then retreat almost simultaneously as it landed...and still retain perfect balance is something anyone in boxing should employ. And he hardly threw it as a 'pawing' jab, instead using it solidly to the head (often followed by the whipping left-hook) and to the body...both to back off opponents and discourage them, which usually put the fight on his pace instead of theirs. Simple but did it better than anyone else...
McDogg has already mentioned him but Liston's jab was indeed fantastic. Bruno actually had a really good jab, there wasn't really a whole lot to his game at the elite level besides that but he had that punch nailed imo.
