Hearn, FFS. Makes Werren and Kelly look like paragons of virtue. The judge who scored that 59 - 55 is either so incompetent they should be barred, or they were being paid off. MTF
nah man, theres a lot of corruption in the US and the UK, but Germany is simpy at a whole other level
It always amazes me how nobody on the British TV circuit ever leans back in their chair and speaks honestly. It's a bunch of very well dressed, very well versed cunts.
Who is Kelly? Kelly Maloney? I though the Amir Khan vs Kindelan farce was some sort of highwater mark of bullshit in the UK. Since then we have had many moons of monkey-suited mendacity.
Right.......between the time of the Canelo "Draw" vs GGG and the Canelo "Win" vs GGG fights..............name for me the big controversies out of Germany??? In the 1 year between two of the biggest FARCES of modern boxing scoring..........what utter controversy was coming out of Germany??
First round was clearly Povetkin's, but 2nd and 3rd were very close rounds. Povetkin landed the more eye-catching shots but there wasn't many of them and not much behind them. I gave the first three to Povetkin too, but 'scandalous' is a strech
Aye, 'Kelly' Malone. I cannot agree more, mind. I find it very hard to watch boxing on SKY any more. The lies, bullshit and bluster long ago reached unpalatable levels. The truth is that they are not catering for me and thee, though. The real money is the mong-coin: that's where all this shite is pitching. MTF
The first three rounds were easy to score. Povetkin won them comfortably. No competent official could have given Povetkin only the first round of that fight. MTF
Yep. But hey, he was making Povetkin hit him in the head, and Povetkin doesn't normally hit guys in the head that early. So he was making Povetkin fight a way he doesn't like to fight, So he changed his style, so 10-9 Joshua.
I know, I know, it really does feel like a production aimed at a, ahem, very particular type of customer. I remember when all of this started in the very early 1990's they all used to wear tuxes and shit and come out on TV looking very sharp. There was a concerted effort being made to bring boxing out of the bad dancehall days of the 1980's, all that York Hall, Kaylor vs Christie feel. Now it's like the TV guys have flipped and are embracing the morons.
That was a great fight. povetkin came to win which is why he got KO'd. I still pick Joshua to beat Wilder by KO even though Povetkin gave Joshua a lot of problems early.
I don't think Wilder is a good boxer either. He's a very poor boxer in fact. Best boxer in the HW division is a fat inbred white Irish guy who think he's an Ethnic Minority. That's actually the simple fucking reality of things as we stand at the present moment.
What Wilder and AJ’s last performances reveal to me is that Fury could EASILY regain his crown if he stays focused. It’s literally there for him. There’s no boxing brain that exists between AJ and Wilder. Both guys are just powerful brawlers with limited arsenals of weaponry. The Gipsy King may very well reign again sooner than we think.
He's the only boxer in that division. He's the antithesis of Wilder and Joshua, he literally can do everything they cannot, and they can do what he cannot, albeit he's a better puncher than they are boxers.
Golly! A big heavyweight title fight and yet only 5 pages of comments in total? I remember there were 50+ pages of comments on the Lewis/Tyson thread on SecondsOut before the fight even got officially signed. Good old days! :)
I haven’t seen the fight but take the word of the consensus that Joshua looked mediocre. Still I’d be careful not to be too quick to anoint Fury as the uncrowned king of the division. None of us really know how good Fury’s chin is and he did get dropped clean by a cruiserweight. Fury beat a Klitschko who had been psyched out of the fight before it started and again it was more about what Wlad didn’t do than what fury did. The fight was messy and filled with clinching and posing. Aside from Wlad, fury hasn’t fought anyone. Wilder has beaten Ortiz and Joshua has beaten Wlad, whyte, Parker and now Povetkin. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t believe anyone has stopped povetkin before. So I think we’re jumping ahead of ourselves here (in usual fightbeat fashion ).
Frazier would have raked AJ over the coals. Too relentless, and he’d take AJ into deep waters and as we’ve seen, AJ’s lungs will probsvly not be able to see him out of that.
Sure. I remember foreman looking sloppy and vulnerable against Lyle and then he went on to kill Frazier in 5, only to go on and look sloppy again against Young. Frazier beat a rusty Ali, ONCE and that’s it. I didn’t see Frazier beat Shavers, Liston, Holmes, Norton, Lyle. When did he beat someone as big and strong as Joshua? Joshua would have wiped him out
thinking about it, Im not sure Frazier could have success against the current crop of HW champs. Hes a million times more skilled than them, but he might be too small
Frazier was very small compared to a guy like Joshua. People seem to underestimate this fact. He’s look like a boy next to Joshua...who would have been much bigger than even Foreman.
I could see Frazier taking what the likes of Whyte and Povetkin tonight were able to do and keep it up for as long as the fight took. Frazier’s body punching would zap a lot of AJ’s energy and Joe only gets stronger. Size difference wouldn’t matter here. Frazier wears down AJ.
