From last week's Joe Rogan Experience - basically says Tyson was physically/talentwise the best boxer ever but says he's 0-5 in real fights:

Bitterness from Atlas still or just too honest?

Atlas owes his entire boxing career to Mike. He should thank Mike in every interview for making him relevant.

He said he's 0-5 because the 5 times he met real resistance, he folded.
Tyson won some tough fights though that he doesn't get enough credit for like Mitch Green, Tony Tucker, and the Razor Ruddock rematch.
Would've been awesome to see Tyson vs the returning George Foreman back in the late 80s. That could've been one of the biggest fights ever.

Teddy is always soooo drama. He's a black woman trapped inside a goofy white guy's body.

Hilarious that Atlas apparently holds the Danny Williams and Kevin McBridde defeats against Mike. It's no exaggeration to say that those two stiffs wouldn't have been sufficient sparring partners for a young Tyson.

Mike could go the rest of his life and not have to answer ONE Atlas question, and still retain his fame and relevance.

Whereas Teddy will always have to discuss Mike in any mainstream interview for anyone to care.

And in this case, he's on a huge platform as Rogan has one of most watched podcasts in American. Teddy knows what he's doing.

You can't take seriously anything Atlas says because all he cares about is making himself look good.

It's a shame because he does have good Xs and Os knowledge... instead of focusing on that he wastes time promoting himself and being "controversial"

It's a fallacy whenever Tyson haters claim he lost EVERYTIME a fighter showed resistance.

To diminish Tyson's legacy, his detractors like to say that ALLLL of his victims were defeated before the opening bell, when in most cases that it is in fact untrue.

Mike was simply too good for his victims. Most of them attempted to fight back and win, but were simply overwhelmed by the speed and power.

Sure, it's possible to beat a prime Tyson if you push him to a certain point where his stamina begins to fail... but how many precious few heavyweights in history would be able to push the 88 Tyson to that point?

What's most annoying about Atlas is that he's a pseudo-psychologist. Like STFU you dipshit, you don't understand human thinking!

I cracked up when he claimed that Holy had so much heart and mental toughness cause his mom beat him with a switch as a kid.

I guess Teddy doesn't realize that EVERY black kid gets their ass beat with a switch. It's not unique to Holy.

By that logic, every black fighter in history should have had the heart of Holyfield.

    Agreed.
The 0-5 theory is just that.
In reality, prime-Tyson had ´tough´ fights against Tillis, Green, Ribalta and post-prime vs Ruddock.

Don't really see how the Green fight was particularly tough... he basically won every round and pounded the guy

Lol. So true. And you could always see in the fighters' eyes, "what's this shit? Why is this guy yelling at me? Who the fuck is this? This isn't the same trainer I had in camp, who didn't seem to give a shit and made his assistant do all the work."

What's ironic is, Tyson is always called a front runner, yet his predecessors, Foreman and Liston, never receive the same kind of criticism when BOTH quit against Ali.

It's like people sweep under the rug the fact that Liston tried to fuckin blind a guy, then blatantly quit when that didn't work. And Foreman flat out elected to take the full 10-count in the 8th round against Ali... he coulda gotten up.

    Exactly this.

His book is filled with such nonsense, such as when he got a 'feeling' that Foreman was going to knock out Moorer and there was nothing that a trainer could do, such was Foreman's 'energy'

Wait a minute... Sonny Liston gets routinely called a bully and a quitter ... literally all the time

Foreman? He was absolutely exhausted... he couldn't get up... its ridiculous to assert that he quit in that fight

Foreman was every bit mentally beat as he was exhausted.

Liston? Yeah, I suppose you have a point... he is often a called a bully.

But not to the extent of Tyson. I've never heard historians say "All of Liston's opponents were beaten before the opening bell."

Foreman did not quit vs Ali... I won't budge on it... he was absolutely spent

I don't believe for a second that Liston is given some benefit of a doubt that Tyson isn't ... he's always classed as a bully and the Lewiston affair looms over his whole career

With all due respect to Liston though, he doesn't have nearly the same amount of fanboys and apologists that Tyson does. When people are proclaiming a fighter the best of all time, or coming out with shit like "the only man to beat Tyson was Tyson", you're going to have to expect a lot more scrutiny.
