Recently watched this fight again. Really good fight I thought. And obviously a great performance by a 42 year old Holmes. But does anyone think Mercer deserved the decision? It was definitely close. And some good stuff from Holmes. But I thought Mercer landed the better stuff.
Best part of that fight is Holmes during the fight looking at the camera and saying "I sure ain't Tommy Morrison!" Holmes won it clearly BTW
Holmes was such a boring f*cker despite his skills. Just a zero personality with no real charisma. Even Lennox had more charisma than Holmes.
Sly ya know you gotta read from a teleprompter to be a commentator, right? Certain fighters wouldn't be cut out for the job...
Lol! There you go again. No, I’m not pushing for Floyd to be a commentator, he doesn’t speak clearly enough (clearer than his father and uncle though....as I don’t understand what the fuck they’re saying half the time)
Holmes meltdown post Spinks {part 1} would be probably be one of the greatest pieces of TV ever if it happened today. Back in the 1980's, sports and the planet in general seemed to handle these crises so much better and they are remembered more fondly, if remembered at all. That's a major downside of the internet, which IMHO is responsible for so much of the over reaction and overall bad blood and what-not. It seems to me impossible that in the current era a fight like Holmes vs Cobb would be capable of giving rise to the infamous Cobb roast of Holmes years later.
