im sure this fight has been done 100 times already but it’s worth doing again simply because of how great this fight would have been. Can you imagine the action?!!!

After Pac beat DLH, Hatton and Cotto, he might have won this fight.

Luckily when he turned 35 we found out what a scrub he actually was

If Pryor can’t stop him early he’s not stopping him late. Pacquiao is just as strong late as he is early. You can’t wear him down.

    You're literally making up shit.

Name ONE fuckin person who has EVER called Pac a scrub? I'll wait.. cause it's never been said. You're pulling it out your ass.

He's a greater fighter than Pryor. Pac is a top 15-25 atg... Pryor is not.

Dont get your anti-old time fighter panties in a bunch just cause we suggested Pryor could win head-to-head.

All I'm saying is that people would have picked this fight differently if it weren't for Pac's weak performances late in his career.

Not you necessarily, but Bert Sugar, cdogg and such

Pacquiao should be favoured here if we break it down logically. Take nostalgia out of the equation and consider that Pacquaio was faster, hit harder, was a southpaw and matched Pryor for workrate and stamina and you'll see that he wins. Pacquiao would have also beaten Arguello.

I don't think paquiao hit harder than Pryor at 140, I also don't see where his stamina was proven to be on par with Pryor who threw with abandon from start to finish

For the record, this matchup was posted back in circa 09, and even then I picked Pryor.

    Is Pryor a lock? No.

I'd say Duran is close to a lock over Pac, but Pac has a good chance to beat Pryor.

And as I suspected, plenty of Pryor picks in there

Notice how Sly's opinion has changed? Must be reverse nostalgia

My opinion has slightly changed since 09. And opinions on MM's are allowed to change.

I'd give Floyd a better chance at beating Pryor than Pac.

Still confidently pick Pryor over Chavez, that's never changed.

It's definitely on par with Pryor. Pacquiao had endless stamina.

I think Pryor's unorthodox angle attack would trouble Pac a great deal, more than the verse. Pryor would make it a ROUGH fight, and Pac traditionally doesn't love ROUGH fights.

No. You must never reconsider an earlier position because it means you are Nat Fleischer and think Joe Gans could fight

Pacquiao wins. Pryor's defense was too leaky.

    Nobody ever said that, sandpants.

But since we value the past generation fighters as their prime versions, we should do that with contemporary fighters too. That clearly isn't the case if this bout has changed from 50:50 to a mismatch.

    Accept it, Mike Keenan

Sorry but where has it changed to a mismatch? Because I joked that pac becomes pregnant?

What considerations is Sly making since his pick changed from 50:50 to a clear Pacquiao victory?

Is he suddenly not considering the prime Pryor?

Yo...never said it would be a "clear" paquiao victory. What I'm saying is that Pacquiao should be favoured, and I mean that based on tangibles. Why I said pick'em last time is when you consider intangibles and I'm kinda still there. How does Pacquiao deal with the suffocating whirldwind? We don't know.

My point was not to take issue with your take but rather to illustrate that Ugo has an ax to grind

Nobody is a lock against a 140 pacman, and duran is far from being one. For this fight, too hard to tell. Gun to my head, pryor is a bit too hittable, so i wpuld lean toward pacquiao

Every fighter fares better in mythical matchups at the peak of their career. Maybe PAC was just over rated after beating the ghost of DLH and damaged versions of Cotto and Hatton who weren’t that good.

I’d favor Pac by stoppage but I could see him getting caught in a forced exchange. Pryor didn’t have much defense at all but he was a brave swinger with decent hand speed and he hit hard enough to knock Pac out.

I’ll take Pryor via late stoppage, possibly down on the cards. Pac probably outlands him, but I think over the long haul, Pryor accumulates more damage, particularly to the body.

I think that sets the scene for a late TKO for Pryor:
