Jarrett Hurd is going to wreck Jermell when they fight. That said I thought it Jermell won his fight. I had it for him 116-112. Harrison just wasn't busy enough in some of those close rounds. Charlo turned it on late and swept the championship rounds. Jermall had a ton of trouble with Korobov. He was getting tagged cleanly with those left hand counters and it took him quite a while to figure him out. Maybe he was having trouble with him because he was a late substitution, he was distracted by his brother's loss or whatever but he didn't look good last night and had to struggle to win. After that performance either Jacobs, GGG or Canelo will be lining up for a payday.
No,..boxing sucks because of overall lack of quality talent across most all the divisions. Outside of a couple of fighters,...none of today’s champs would have had belts in any other era
Two guys, who nobody thought were even top-30 in pound-for-pound rankings, were even worse than thought. That means boxing is in ruins and all champions suck.
Thats an exaggeration. Both Charlos were ranked top 30 p4p. Jermall is better than Jermell. I think thats always been the prevailing opinion and turns out its very true. Both have serious limitations though.
Depends on who does the ranking of course, but if you are about third best of your division and there are like 18 weight classes, chances are that there are tens of better fighters than you. Besides, his logic works backwards. If you have considered Carlos to be good and they get beaten, shouldn't that mean that the level of the sport is higher than you thought?
Jermall looked way worse than Jermell and lost even more cleanly. I was watching a foreign stream so I don’t know what the commentators were selling you, but they both lost.
Unlike UFC, boxing has an established talent pool. Which is why quality fighters like Korobov and Harrison are middle of the pack type talents while any random judo bouncer can have 15 minutes in the ufc.
He didn’t equalize shit against Korobov, he got schooled. He’s got good reflexes and throws sharp punches but he’s stiff and basic. Jermell is a solid fighter but he’s not super fast or a consistent hitter and he’s going to vulnerable to off nights against decent guys that are sharp on the night.
I've seen quite a few people saying it on other sites, to be fair. I haven't seen the fight yet myself so can't comment on it.
Gotta say, I've only seen him a couple of times but I'm not too impressed with this Hurd guy either. He gives rounds away too easily and seems to rely solely on his size taking its toll later on. My pet peeve is supposed "world class" boxers who give up rounds easily. Abraham did it, Broner did it, they will come across a guy who can take what they're throwing and then it all comes unstuck. Maybe I just saw him on two bad nights though.
Wow I overrated them as did most others. They would get battered by Canelo and Golovkin, probably Hurd too and maybe even Munguia.
How can anyone overrate boxers of today? Oh wait. It's Fightbeat: desperately trying to keep boxing alive. ool. Fucktards.
The Charlos just struggled with two mobile boxers and counter punchers. Not sure what it says about them fighting Hurd or Munguia. Lmao
This was amusing when ufc was on the up but now it’s a stale fad that’s future is uncertain. You’re not annoying or frustrating people, you just look like a stereotypical loser on the internet. And you’re old.
He landed “round stealing punches” and he landed about a half dozen of them in almost every round. Clear win.
Jermell won. The Jermall fight got cut off after the tenth (broadcast was over 3 hours?). But Korobov is definitely a good fighter. So no shame in Jermall's fighting close with him. Lol at this idea that if a fighter doesn't walk through all his opponents he is not "elite," or sucks.
Elite fighters are supposed to beat contenders decisively and consistently. That’s really the main requirement for being “elite”, ie better than the rest. But I agree people are so used to seeing name guys string together showcases that they over react when an opponent doesn’t play along.
I missed the first 2 or 3 rounds of the Harrison fight but unless he clearly lost all those rounds it looked like he won the fight to me. Charlo landed some eye catching shots but they were few and far between and he was getting outboxed, jabbed up and hit with clean right hands other than that. Harrison even hurt him. The on-air commentary is a big problem in boxing. Sports commentators are taught to create a narrative to keep fans paying attention and I think the problem is more just them being lazy and kind of cheap than in someone’s pocket. The problem with stuff like that and Russians on Facebook is people are too proud to admit they’re being influenced.
Definitely Not a Good Night for the Charlo Brothers... Ran into 2 QUALITY Boxers Who Exposed Some Technical Flaws...Jermell Had a LOT of Trouble w/Harrison's Jab and was Lured into Counters All Night and Jermall Had an Even TOUGHER Time w/Korobov's Left Cross Leads and Counters... REED Would've Been Fine w/a Draw in Both Fights or Charlo Wins in Both...REED Wouldn't Even Argue w/Those Who Had Korobov BEATING Jermall...But Jermell Didn't Lose in REED's Opinion...Harrison Fought a VERY Good Fight But he was a Bit NEGATIVE for Stretches and Jermell was Simply the BUSIER Fighter... That Said, This Should Be THE Last Time They Share a Card...As Not Just Brothers, but TWINS, the Emotional Toll is Tooooooo Much for the Other to Carry, if his Sibling Loses...Who Knows to What Degree, but Jermall HAD to Be Affected...When they Showed Him Watching the Cards Being Read, he Walked Away from His Entourage for a Private Moment to Himself, After Learning his Brother Lost... It'll Be Tough, but REED Thinks Jermell Should Go for an Immediate RE and that Appears to Be the Path He's Taking...There WAS a Rematch Clause and Charlo Says He Has 4 Months to Exercise It...Jermall Needs to Hope He Showed Enough Vulnerability to the Bigger Names to Finally Get a Money Fight @ '60...He Needs to Stay the Hell Away from Korobov… Was Impressed by the CHINS of the Charlo's Too...They Both Got Hit...A LOT...And Showed No Ill Effects or Hesitation in Continuing to Press the Attack... Are They All Time Greats? Still Need to See More and Saturday Night Certainly Didn't HELP their Cases...But They're Only 28 and it's Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Tooooooooooooooooo Early to Count Them Out or Write Them Off...They'll Be Certified PLAYERS for the Next 5 Years or So... REED
They ain't all time greats, REED. Never will be. Nowhere remotely close. Only a previous few fighters per generation ever reach ATG status, and it NEVER appeared the Charlos were headed down that path, even prior to Sat night. Can they both still carve out good careers? Yes, but they gotta work on their flaws. Jermall needs to stay far the Hell away from Andrade. He's arguably lost to the last two world class southpaws he's faced, and Andrade is a lot better than Trout and Korobov. Jermall also better work on his D a lot if he wants to beat Danny and Clenelo. As for Jermell, well if he fights Hurd, let's not forget Hurd has a lot of defensive issues of his own. But Hurd just seems like he might be too physically imposing for Jermell. Munguia is still too green for all these guys, and needs to polish his skill level and gain more experience before he's ready for Hurd/Charlo level.
