Apparently at least the super lightweight tournament has been canceled. They couldn't organize the fights in the given time window and the fighters don't want to sit out tied to the format while others get to collect purses. Boxing would need tournament formats, but it is too damn difficult to make them work
Damn Shame. Super Lightweight was Shaping Up to Be THE Best of the WBSS Tournaments Too. Tragic. REED
That's weird, because Taylor-Baranchyk was just announced as being official today on the WBSS Instagram. On for May 18th.
WBSS just posted two hours ago that the fight is confirmed, and not cancelled. So don't give up hope yet...
Yep, yesterday Baranchuk's manager said that they will pull out of the tournament, today the fight is back on. Go figure
So when the Hell are they gonna announce the date/venue for Prograis-Relikh? Cause Regis was already saying he was sick of waiting, and that was over a month ago! I guess this is what happens when a cokehead is running the show.
This was posted on fightnews "Update: Baranchyk’s camp told ESPN that they are pulling out of the WBSS tournament, citing WBSS financial woes." It's a January 31 article with that being a newer update.
World Boxing SS has been HIGHLY disappointing. Why is Taylor-Baranchyk the ONLY fight with a date/venue? And we dont even know if it's really on. When the fuck is the date for Inoue-Rodriguez? When the fuck is the date for Prograis-Relikh? When the fuck is the date for Donaire vs that South African dude whose name escapes me? What the fuck is the hold up?
Inoue-Rodriguez is Underneath Taylor-Baranchyk 5/18. Naoya Inoue-Emmanuel Rodriguez Official For May 18, Glasgow What's ENCOURAGING is Both Fights are Still Being Sold as "WBSS Semi-Finals", Which @ Least Gives Us HOPE the Other '40 and 118 Semi's Come to Fruition... REED
What the Hell is taking so long to announce Rougarou's date? Oh btw, Jose Ramirez fought Sunday on ESPN. Not sure who caught it, but he went life and death with Jose Zepeda (whoo???). Ramirez is not beating Prograis or Taylor. And based on Sunday, Hooker might take him also.
If the WBSS '40 Tourney is FULLY Restored, There's NATHAN for Jose Ramirez @ the Weight in 2019...Which is Why he's Been Highlighted as a Possible Next Opponent, After Crawford KO's Khan... Cashing Out, Basically... REED
Hate to Be MODERATE, but it Wasn't Life and Death NOR Fairly Easy, in REED's Opinion... Ramirez WON for Sure, Close yet Clear...That Said, in Terms of Post-Fight STOCK, Zepeda's Rose Whereas Ramirez's was Unchanged or Even Perhaps LOWER... REED
Why can't Ramirez vs Hooker get made? Or does TR even wanna risk that? After seeing what Mo did to Saucedo, they can't be 100% confident of Ramirez beating him.
Hooker's an Eddie Hearn Fighter... Roc Nation AND Matchroom, Technically...But Roc Nation's Fizzled Out about as Quickly as They Bursted Onto the Scene...Hooker's a Hearn Fighter for the Immediate Future... Top Rank Won the Purse Bid for the Saucedo Fight, but they Never Actually Promoted Maurice... REED
Prograis-Relikh FINALLY received a date. April 27th. Donaire vs Tete on the undercard. I'm definitely rooting for Donaire to pull off that one. A final that consists of Prograis-Taylor, and Inoue-Donaire would be awesome.
