When I was growing up tv aired mostly grade B old films. Unlike today that a new release will air on tv like 12 months later, back in the day a hit movie will not be seen on tv like for 10 years. Heck, Gone with the Wind aired for the first time like 35 years after its original release! So the truly crappy films were sold cheap to tv stations and those usually got heavy rotation. As a child I had not much perception on what constituted a bad film. To me all were good as long as they weren't dramas (I was a big fan of westerns and science fiction/horror).

Of the many films I thought were great there was the one about an island of viking women who kept these stranded guys prisoners and anyone trying to escape the island would be devoured by a giant sea serpent. As a 6 year old I thought it was great!...it wasn't...

Another 'great' childhood movie was 'Teenagers From Outer Space" were teenagers from mars (where else?) came to Earth and the 'good one' tries to mingle with Earth's teens, make friends and even get a girlfriend! Meanwhile his other peers are not so friendly: they had a ray gun that turns humans into skeletons! the scene where the 'evil' teenager zaps people mercilessly scared the hell out of me!

Another 'gem' was the serial 'Zorro's Fighting Legion'. This 12 chapter serial follows the exploits of Zorro, who now is the leader of a whole legion of masked vigilantes of both genders, but dressed differently 'cause Zorro has the be the 'cool one in black'. They battle evil Spaniards with their evil Indians who blindly follow the orders of a robot-like Golden Aztec God who hides in a cool cave! It had memorable cliffhangers...Awesome! I bought the dvd a few years ago and couldn't stomach more than 10 minutes of this crap.

Most-turd again trying to be a pain the ass. The thread is about REAL universally tagged shitty films, not about classics some fag hated.

Okay, it's not a shitty movie...but it's one that as an adult, it's strange to be going 'ooohhh' and 'aaahh' at, and claiming it's some great piece of movie-making...

My favorite movie as a child was Enter The Dragon.. and nothing has changed. It remains one of my top 5 favorite all time films.

It's hard to say, cause most my childhood favorites are still great to watch now - Enter The Dragon, Raiders, Jaws, The Last Dragon, Blazing Saddles, Poseidon Adventure.

I dunno... I can remember really liking Willow when I was young. But I'm sure it'd be shitty now.

The Return of Doctor X (1939) This cheap sequel to 'Doctor X' replaces that film's star, Lionel Atwill, for a then lesser known actor that went by the name of Humphrey Bogart. While the plot was indeed interesting (since evil Doctor X died in the prior film, he is brought back to life as a zombie to continue his experiments, but needs blood to stay 'alive'), the execution, direction and everything is so damn low budget it shows and ruins almost everything...except Bogart. He was great in a role he never wanted to talk about. Watching it years later was a real pain, even with Bogart!

The Giant Claw (1957) I watched this turkey quite a few times and even at my tender age I was able to recognize how silly was the stupid looking muppet monster bird and the toy special effects. Yet I loved it!

Oh and the incredibly shitty The Astounding She-Monster (1957) was a must-watch on lazy weekend afternoons. The plot, that moved at snail pace, was about this curvaceous glowing babe from Venus, I think, who came to Earth to kill mostly men just by her radioactive touch. That's it! No dialogue from the 'monster/alien' to find out why she kept killing everyone she encounter. A stupid movie that I kept watching every time it aired 'cause there wasn't anything else to do.

When Mossturd's friends were raving about the newest Steve McQueen film, he was telling them that was a crappy film and that they should check out instead "Whose Afraid of Virginia Woolf?".

    Fixed.

As for the thread topic, there aren’t any childhood old movies I’ve tried to rewatch lately but I did go through Kodi one day after feeling nostalgic about cartoons from my childhood. Anyway I started watching an old episode of the Herculodes and switched it off within minutes.

You mean that as a child you never watched a movie you enjoyed and later as you grew older you realized it was crap?

Yeah there weren't babes like these smoking daughter-mother to jerk off when I was five years old.

I think you would like Larry Clark’s work though, he loves showing teenagers barely clothed.
