Chelshit were fined and banned from transfers for two windows. Of course they will appeal it and likely get the penalty reduced.
I am not so sure that Spurs are totally out of it. By the end of today, the gap might still only be 5. But apart from that, there's the matter of Burnley being such a hard, drilled unit. Spurs usually suffer a post- Champions League collapse and a tough, midday away-day trip to Burnley was just the banana skin they needed to avoid. Poch lost it at full time.
LIverpool not good enough today. I don't buy the BS about United being "RAVAGED" by injuries, Liverpool are missing a few guys and RF went off injured. Starting to seem like Liverpool will just fall short again.
18 year old ewan henderson (brother of liam) a deserved man of the match on sunday. Great range of passing and awareness, could be one to watch when he fills out a bit Just as ugly as his brother, mind yeeesh. Looks like a bash street kid
According to a guy in work with friends in the club rodgers is away tp leicester, pretty well wrapped up
Not sure that would be wise decision for Rodgers, he has been out of top flight football for several years and expectations seem very unrealistic at Filbert st
Im not as crestfallen as most for three reasons: 1) rodgers tactics had clearly proven a deadend in europe, a fact brought into sharpest relief against salzburg this season where, pinned in our own third by one of the finest high presses in europe we.....continued to try and pass it out methodically from the back anyway. Definition of insanity. Theres no plan aii, let alone a plan b. And, unlike under o'neil, strachan, lennon we no longer bring anything to the table in terms of physicality, directness or set piece threat to counteract the lack in quality which is always gonna exist with a wage bill that falls between 10-50% of every team we're up against. 2) slightly contradicting the above- managers simply arent that important. Seriously. Its become like a ceremonial role with the scouting and recruitment systems simply playing a far bigger role in success. Yes, rodgers has acted as a pull for young players (or the owner clubs of young players) but overall recruitment has been pretty pish these last few years. Im more concerned that we sort that out than whos in the dugout. 3) john kennedy is by all accounts a rising star at the club who was already set to become director of fitbaw soon. We also have solid guys like willie mcstay, steph mcmanus, shuan maloney, damien duff and others in the bootroom at various levels and if lennon is gonna come in in the intern i think therell be enough sense of continuity to keep things ticking over until we find a long term replacement. I actually think we could do alot worse than Steve Clarke.
Huddersfield do to Wolves what Wolves have been doing to others all season. Bang a very late winner against them. Benitez, some man for one man. Burnley beat Spurs 3 days ago. They are losing to Newcastle tonight.
Benitez deserves all of the credit for drawing together a very mediocre group and giving them a plan, which isn't dull as Pulis but doesn't ignore their shortcomings (hello fulham)...downside is Ashley rubbing his fat sausage fingers together as he retains his premiership asset
Yes it is unfortunately a double-edged thing. That said Fat Mike was told by Rafa to splash the cash in January or face being dry humped all the way to May. So he spent a few quid but as you say, people like Fulham have splashed it too. Benitez is like the teacher who economizes and is then told his budget is being cut because he's clearly a very good economizer and didn't need that PHAT budget to begin with.
Lennon cleared 90 points in 3 of his 4 seasons, Rodgers was on course to fail that benchmark for the 2nd year running. Our European form showed little if any improvement at all. Moving on. In two years Rodgers will be sitting at home, out of work, watching Celtic go for a massive 10 in front of 60k crowds.
Tuck Rodgers fancied himself bigtime. Apparently when he put in for the job at Liverpool they asked him to attend an interview and he said he doesn't do interviews.
