117-111 (9-3) was Tooooooooooooo Faaaaaaar in Ugas' Favor, but REED Felt he Did Enough to Win...After Picking Porter by Decision, No Less... REED Wouldn't Have Minded a Draw But in the Most LITERAL Sense of the Word, Shawn Porter Did Not BEAT Yordenis Ugas… That Said, REED Understands WHY Porter Got the Nod...Not Saying There's BLATANT or INTENTIONAL Corruption @ Hand, but People Closely Involved w/Boxing at Various Levels KNEW Coming In that Porter Had a More LUCRATIVE Fight Future in Front of Him than Ugas, and that's Probably What Led to the Verdict... REED
Porter's Also Faced Better Overall Comp Than Spence...Doesn't Mean Shit Head to Head... Brook Faced Better Comp Prior to Facing Spence...Didn't Mean Shit in the End...Porter's a For Sure Underdog vs. Crawford... REED
Not saying he would beat either of them head to head. Just saying, when fighters face top comp, they're not going to appear as dominant. Fans in love with one-sided beat-downs, overlooking weak comp and thinking it means they're great - that's why matchups between top fighters are so few and far between. Fans write fighters off because of one loss. That's not a real boxing fan
No One's Doing That Here Doub, @ Least REED's Not... Porter Came Into the Fight w/2 Losses, Ugas 3...This Wasn't a Bout Between Perfect Record Guys, Obviously...But Based on the Perceptions of Porter and Ugas PRIOR to the Fight, Ugas' ROSE a Bit After the Fact and Porter's DECREASED a Bit... REED
This was definitely not one of Porter's better performances (against Ugas). He was strangely defensive and spent most of his time moving backwards. On the other hand, Ugas did not exactly go after him. He spent a lot of time posing and insisted on making Porter lead - not a good look for a challenger.
Anyone know what happened to the cruiserweight fight that was supposed to happen? With the pole who Smith knocked out?
Fonfara retired about a month ago. And Agreed with Double. I'll believe Crawford fucks up anyone good when he actually has the balls to face one. Porter is the kind of guy who rise (or fall) to the level of his opposition. He won't dominate many good fighters, but he won't get dominated either.
Porter would give hell to Crawford. He's strong and (usually) relentless. He would disrupt Crawford smooth boxing with his strenght and his rushes.
I think early on his strength and roughhousing will unsettle Crawford a bit but class would soon tell. By the mid rounds, I see TC making the adjustments and landing a lot of sharp counters on Porter.
Yeah, because Horn's strength and aggressiveness was really effective against TC... It's gonna take firepower to beat Crawford. Hence, why Spence is the answer. The unskilled aggression that Porter has ain't winning against Crawford.
I didn't realize the bar was set that high for Porter... He BARELY scraped by Cherry Garcia. All well and good, but Crawford is better than Danny at every single facet of the sport.
