This guy has already lost his first child at only a few months old. Now his mother is shot and killed by cops in Tennessee. Jesus Christ this guy has a tragic life. Apparently his mother was being hostile and brandishing a knife on a deputy, who shot her... These trigger happy fucking pigs should be ashamed for having no other answer for a 51-year-old woman with a knife other than to shoot her dead.
Sounds like Bullshit. Cops only shoot black people dead. For what it is worth, there is brandishing a knife, and there is...........brandishing a knife. If she was stood yards away and just waving it daftly then yeah, stupid cops. If she rushed/jumped them and somebody unholstered to help a buddy out, then that is different. I think theres ample evidence that someone holding a knife need not present any real threat to the police before being shot dead.
I agree., the "Police" being a very wide term. Cops in NYC will handle different matters differently to cops in Stumblebum, Ohio. "Wielding", "Holding", "Waving" etc.........devil is in the detail.
His gun was almost certainly drawn the moment he stepped outta his vehicle. So immediately, you're looking at a situation that's not in de-escalation mode. He probably told her to put down the knife, and when she didnt comply, he shot her. If this was a gun we were talking about, then different story. You cant expect to be brandishing a gun in front police and not be shot dead. But this "knife"... and we dont even know what kinda "knife" they're referring to.
There’s an endless, and growing, supply of videos where like 4 or 5 cops shoot down some drunk/drugged person stumbling around with a knife, they just wait for the moment he takes a step their direction so that they can score their paid vacation (‘administrative leave’).

i believe the major problem is the hiring standard for police aint what it once was. overall its a shitty job to take so i understand why most people wouldnt want to do it. I was observing some of the police i see around here and they are nerdy young kids who i highly doubt are cut out for such a task.
Agreed. The problem is the more that are required the lower the standards tend to get. They would rather deal with a "few bad apples" than have a shortage.
Not sure what point your trying to make... obviously men are going to way exceed women in the ‘knife brandishing’ department- besides I’m sure the strength of man compared to women factors into the ‘trigger point’ in those situations. I’m sure there’s some with women, but way less.
THE absolute biggest problem is that cops are given ZERO training in how to deescalate situations. They might CLAIM the contrary, but it would be a lie. In tense situations, police are trained to shoot first, ask questions later. The corrupt law is always on their side, so why should they even worry about it? And therein lies the other central problem, that the system protects 99% of these "bad apples".
They are trained on how to deescalate situations. Obviously the quality and amount of this training differs based upon a lot of factors. The law being on their side however is the reason why they often take the easy route and just go for their weapon. Situation over.
