Dunno, but Mikey loses. He isnt a big enough banger at 140 to keep Tszyu off, and tbh, he's not a good enough technician to outbox Tszyu.
I’d take Garcia based on the chin and durability he showed against Spence. Mikey didn’t have any ‘presence’ against Spence because of the size difference and height difference but Tszyu is a different, stubbier animal. I think he takes a decision or maybe accumulates enough right hands for a stoppage.
It's VERY, VERY, VERY rare that you'll ever hear me defend Kostya Tszyu, but the truth is.... prime Tszyu was a better, more talented technician than Mikey. Especially at 140. Mikey couldn't dominate Lipinets. Couldn't stop fragile ass Robert fucking Easter, but he's gonna stop Tszyu late? There's a SHIT TON of junior welters in history who I'd take over Mikey. And Tszyu is one of them. I'd love to see this mythical Mikey Garcia that many people talk about, cause I've never seen him in person. The most that can be said is that Tszyu would have fared worse against Spence than Mikey did. Spence would have beaten Tszyu up, and made him quit in about 7-8 rounds. But that doesn't mean Mikey beats Tszyu.
After seeing how durable Mickey is, I think he has a hell of a shot in that one. I still think Tszyu is the favorite though
Durability alone isn't the key to beating a prime Tszyu. You need more than just that. Mikey doesn't have the right style to beat Tszyu. He's not a physically imposing guy, he's not a pressure fighter, and he's not a big banger at 140. One could say "Well, Vince Philips beat him." Yeah, and Vince Philips was a big puncher, with an aggressive style, and a MUCH bigger man than Mikey.
When Garcia gets his feet set in punching range he’s got “hands” like a motherfucker. I think he bats Zoo around for the most part. He’s not physically imposing as far as pure strength and he’s not a pressure fighter per se, but that’s what I mean by presence. It’s hard to back him up if he doesn’t want to back up and I don’t think Tszyu beats him at mid range consistently.
He didnt even "bat around" Limpmuts and the Cincinnati fraud for Christ sake! Limpnuts and Broner couldn't wash Tszyu's balls. Mikey Garcia is a fucking MYTH above 130. The idea of him battering a top 10 all time junior welterweight is comical.
He beat the shit out of both of them. Lol. And the myth has apparently elevated Spence to p4p status.
Good lord. The guy retired one time, in his last fight ever, yet you pick him to quit in every single tough MM there is. Could you even once pick somebody to knock him out, just for the hell of it?
Spot on. Mikey would get the MAG treatment. He's not big enough or powerful enough at 140 to keep Tszyu off him.
He's smarter than MAG but not as strong and MAG was able to negotiate good fighters like Oscar without getting messed up too badly. Got a draw vs the very last that JCC had to offer. I think Tszyu had a lot of tools, massive amateur background, World Gold Medallist, and Vince Phillips was a big 140lb fighter too, much bigger than Mikey.
As for Spence? Let me see Spence take a Zoo right hand bomb flush on the jaw, then we will talk. He's got the tools to beat Tszyu all week, but that works two ways.
This the first and only time you'll hear me say that Kostya Tszyu is being sold short. His ability, power, and speed is being sold short, and it's not being considered that he has the better resume if the two. Mikey has zero wins over guys the level of Gonzalez, Zab, and Mitchell. And those aren't even great fighters, which tells you how pitiful Mikey's comp has been.
Brook has more power than Tszyu. Not in a P4P sense, but definitely in an absolute sense. Spence would have no issue handling Tszyu's power. He would bully and batter Tszyu.
