The Rotten Tomatoes Controversy

Sunday night just when the 'Want To See' percent for Captain Marvel hit a low 27%, Rotten Tomatoes did a drastic move that has been correctly viewed as catering to the demands of one movie studio, Disney, by dismantling the "Not Interested' button and eliminating all 46 thousand comments from users. At first they posted a clarification in their blog stating this move was something they have been planning to do for a long 'to better serve movie fans' (no one bought that lie, not even the SJWs in the media that cheered their censorship). They stated that one reason was that toxic fans and trolls were leaving bad reviews to films thatt haven't opened yet (a lie, no one was reviewing the film, they were voicing WHY THEY DIDN"T WANT TO WATCH THE FILM). Instead of silencing fans it only made matters worst for them as now the website is viewed as a sellout. After 3 days of bashing on many youtube channels and many websites, Rotten Tomatoes president came forward stating that the decision to disable the 'Want to See/Not Interested' page and score was NOT to protect 'Captain Marvel' nor Disney.

Rotten Tomatoes' Revamp Could Save 'Captain Marvel'

Particularly when the same Rotten Tomatoes president used to work for Disney for 12 years in many divisions in high ranking managerial positions. The timing of shutting down that page couldn't had come at a most suspicious time. Oh and they did not disabled the 'Want to See' button. They left the 15K votes it got while tossing away the over 33K that clicked 'Not Interested'.

As a result now 'Captain Marvel' is facing a boycott from many fans. Something not heard before from an MCU movie. And many angry fans are also boycotting RT as that site's respectability just died three nights ago.

 

Here's a good idea: why don't you just refuse to watch any superhero movies ever again and focus on some proper, adult, non-CGI movies instead?

 

Oh, and then just visit your local zoo, climb into the pen marked 'Alligators' and just stick around...

 

I’ve been telling you guys all along IMDB is the better site as RT looks like it was designed for children.

 

Maybe it is, but honestly RT has been more informative and easier to navigate. However for the last three years or so there have been so many accusations that it caters to Disney's interests and this latest move simply proved the naysayers right. I wasn't aware that RT's president was a former Disney executive and that fact makes the whole thing more obvious now.

 

A video of Panchy howling in agonized Spanglish while his knees and elbows are repeatedly punctured with a power drill would surely have a 100% certified FRESH rating on Rotten Tomatoes

Well, well: it looks like RT put back the Want To See score...sort of. Only shows the Want to See sans the Not Interested...and somehow the score is higher now at 38%.

RT continues protecting Captain Marvel. Just a couple of hours ago the Critics score was 81% and the Audience score was 31% with over 58,000 reviews. Guess what? RT deleted 54,000 reviews of the audience score. Now the audience score has 'improved' to 34% (which is still rotten) with only 9,000 reviews left at this moment (it was a little over 4K two hours ago).

This is a disgrace! Not only RT deleted over 54K negative audience reviews, but it is now ALLOWING obvious fake positive 5 stars reviews by paid bots that in a matter of hours raised the Audience score from a low 31% to 51%!!!

RT is not accepting any audience review that ranks below three stars. In a span of a several hours I have submitted my review three times and it keeps getting deleted. I read from another subscriber complaining about the same and ironically he posted 'lets see if this fake five stars review doesn't get deleted'. It wasn't deleted because it had five stars. This is pathetic.

 

In a very telling (and biased btw) article from The New York Times, Rotten Tomatoes representative comes clean and admitted they changed the rules to protect 'Captain Marvel' as they, R.T. are openly endorsing one of Brie Larson's diversity causes for which they donated over $100,000!!!!

RT continues its SJW PC WOKE ways spiraling down in credibility.

I was checking what they had so far for 'Unplanned' the Pure Flix production based on a true story about a Planned Parenthood doctor who changed her mind about abortion. So far it has no reviews in RT even though I have been reading some reviews (positive and negative) in Washington Times, Movieguide, The Federalist and a bunch of many others. Still nothing on RT. On the other hand the gay romance film 'Sauvage/Wild' with just 23 reviews has a 91% Fresh score and 74 users 'Want to See'. I clicked on the 'Want to See' for 'Unplanned' and still shows zero users want to see. They usually do this to Faith Based movies: wait until the very day of release to put any score regardless if reviews are all over the internet. 'Unplanned' opens this Friday while 'Sauvage' doesn't open until April 10.

One more evidence that RT is completely sold out: The film I mentioned above 'Unplanned' opened this past weekend and took the #4 spot at the box office with $6.3 million even with almost three times less screens than the #3 film, 'Captain Marvel'. It got a 50% rotten score with just, get this, only 20 reviews from critics. However the audience score with 2,970 reviews gave it a solid 93%. I know there were more than 20 reviews from media critics that were just left out from RT while for 'Captain Marvel' they felt the need to add positive reviews from unusual RT sources like Puerto Rico's newspapers and other obscure internet 'critics'. Most of the "Unplanned" positive reviews were just ignored by RT.
And if you read the negative reviews from those major critics it is obviously they despised the film because of its SUBJECT and obvious agenda. One critic said, "Let's just hope this latest Pure Flix propaganda doesn't actually incite violence.." *groans* They have no problems with leftist documentaries, though.
