Cool trailer! Mustard, what do you think of the $71 billion 21st Century Fox acquisition by Disney and the Disney+ stream launching later this year to take on Netflix? The massive catalogue of movies and shows and all the superhero stuff under one roof could be unprecedented.

Knowing the greed level of Disney it wouldn’t shock me if monthly fees hover around 50 bucks.

News from a couple of days ago coming from the mouth of Disney CEO Bob Iger says it will be cheaper than Netflix.

This is being seen to be Tarantino's most snticipated movie since Pulp Fiction

Was PF really anticipated though? You gotta be famous in order for your films to be highly anticipated, and Pulp Fiction is the movie that made Tarantino a Hollywood star - he wasnt one beforehand.

I mean, he was known as a talent after he made Dogs, but Dogs wasnt some mainstream hit. It later became a classic, but a lot of that was off the strength of PF.

    Yep.
How old were you in 1994?
I remember vividly people raving about the 'next Tarantino movie' after being blown away by Reservoir Dogs: all the papers and movie magazines were so expectant of Pulp Fiction.

    ALL pre-Internet hype, too.

I was a teen, and not yet the movie buff I would become. I didnt see PF the year it came out. I first saw it probably around circa 97. So I'm man enough to admit if I'm wrong on this.

I was always under the impression that it became a mega hit WHEN it came out.

Actually, at the time, 94-95, that movie was so successful, box-office snd culturally, I remember at work people would be quoting one-liners and calling each other 'gimp' all the time...

That’s the way I remember it too. That it was hyped up during its run not before, which was actually the reason I went to see it because I had never heard of QT prior.

By 'people' you mean movie critics. Average Joe in the street had never heard of Tarantino and few had even seen 'Dogs'.

Pulp Fiction created a lot of hype at its Cannes premiere before its official USA release. Critics started hyping it as 'Best Movie of the Year' and 'Tarantino is a genius'. I know because I had the subscription to Entertainment Weekly and was reading about all that hype from Cannes. Most articles had to explain who Tarantino was for the average reader, so no, Must turd, you are wrong.

BTW in this trailer you see that Tarantino felt compelled to include a look-alike of that Asian American actor, one-trick pony with short-lived fad who is barely remembered after his passing.

    No, I agree with you.
But I think the 'hype' varied from country to country, e.g. in the UK it was a big hit instantly

And also because he was a suspect in the Tate Murders after teaching Sharon Tate and Jay Sebring, in 1968, some of his moves he learned from never having a professional fight.

Are an imbecile by choice or is in your nature? You know very well I was talking about Pulp Fiction being hyped by (professional) critics upon its premiere. A historical fact. It has nothing to do with 'be your own man' bullshit.

Sharon Tate was beating the crap out of Charles Manson groupies with her Jeet Kune Do until one of them said aloud, "Bruce Lee is not a real fighter since he never fought professionally!" and suddenly all her martial arts skills evaporated and they gleefully proceed to dismember her.

Oh so it will also spotlight the Helter Skelter murders (plus it shows Bruce choreographing The Wrecking Crew)? I am sold! Give me the release date!

    Not entirely!
The murders and the lead-up to them are in the background but throughout the whole movie.

However, I have heard about one massive spoiler which turns everything upside-down...

    Basically, Sharon Tate survives.

August 9, 1969; Rick Dalton (Leonardo Di Caprio) and Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) return to Spahn ranch and walk into a murder plot where Charles Manson's family have kidnapped Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Abigail Folger, Voyteck Frykowski and prepare to murder them in a ritualistic after-party of sorts celebrating Hollywood violence by role-playing a live-violent exploitative film shoot of their own while murdering the hostages.
Bruce Lee shows up to save the hostages and together with Rick and Cliff brutally defeat the Manson Family cult in a shoot out/kung-fu showdown.
Sharon is saved and Rick and Cliff, despite their careers having not amounted to their ambitions, acknowledge it is the end of an era and that the Hollywood spirit will live on.

    Nah, it looks good.
The cast is the strongest ever for a Tarantino movie.

He's just using people from real life and changing the histórical events to a fictional narrative.
