Break it down. Trinidad was vulnerable to being dropped early in fights at that stage but he always came back to win those same fights by KO. Would he be able to do the same vs Hearns if dropped early. Hearns was a guy against an opponet always had a puncher's chance. Could Trinidad have taken advantage of that.
Agreed. I think Steward would have Hearns come out as he did with Hagler, trying to put a dangerous man away immediately...only Trinidad, though he had a 147lb. heart & strong recuperative powers, lacked Hagler's strength & chin. If Trinidad could somehow negotiate the jab & absorb Hearns' right, he's got more than enough power to clean Hearns' clock, but Trinidad was never particularly elusive, & gives it up big here in range & speed. Hearns takes his head off in the third.
I'm dissapointed. I was expecting a former Tito fanatic throwing the classic "Well a 24 year old Tito hadn't fallen in love with his power and was more of a boxer then so..." :shit:
Tito would HAVE to fall in love w/his power to have any hope in this fight. I do somewhat believe that his skills at 147 are underrated, but regardless... he aint matching skills from the outside with Hearns. Judging by Tito getting dropped early on by that quick right hand of Oba Carr.... I can easily see this being a repeat of Hearns-Cuevas. Its both a style nightmare from Tito, and although Tito was damn good... Hearns was a higher calibre.
Hearns is just the better fighter and it would show. Trinidad would be stopped early. And if Tito somehow made through the early rounds, it just means more punishment and a later stoppage.
Hearns is just better. Trinidad would very live because of his own power and Hearns' somewhat vulnerable chin. But in order for Trinidad to do that damage, he would have to absorb alot of right hands....... Don't see it. Hearns TKO 4
:: I would go for Hearns WDQ4 Tito Old Felix Titty Trinidad gets scared and resorts to using Puerto Ricos national product, the low blow, to get out of troube. Then Papi Trinidad comes running into the ring and it gets called off.
Glass chin Hearns would get knocked out cold in the 4th round. Hearns had no heart once he felt a little hurt and immediately goes on survival mode. Ask Leonard.
