    There was no way to turn this character serious. The whole premise is laughable. I watched an animated movie 'Superman vs Shazam' a few years ago and while Superman was played straight, Shazam was played for laughs...and it worked!

    Although I was educated recently on the Shazam character from the comics and how the trailer has the same feel, I will have pass on this one as it looks utterly ridiculous.

    It is supposed to be ridiculous. That's the fun part. I hope they recreate the classic part where he is flying and while talking to himself, by mistake says Shazam and BOOM! down he goes! LOL

    No, no. That one you mentioned was "Sky High" with Kurt Russell & Linda Carter and it was actually entertaining. The one I was referring to was actually titled "Superhero Movie" and sucked massive balls.

    The original Captain Marvel (Shazam) has always been a dude. The Marvel Comics rip-off version started as a man, the character was killed and later the name went to a chick. Due to Marvel Comics now owning the copyrights of the Captain Marvel name the REAL Captain Marvel can't be called that, but Shazam.
