Tonight on ESPN+. I spent a couple of hours last night before bed trying to analyze how this one will play out. After much consideration, I think I'm taking Loma.
The mismatch next week isn't nearly as bad, because at least Khan is a world class fighter with ONE attribute that might trouble Crawford. Crolla is Euro level, and has not ONE fucking thing to bother Loma with.
Assuming Loma isn't all of a sudden shot, he should be able to squash Crolla (that's a lie, a shot Loma would still squash Crolla)
Probably in the same way every other guy in the history of forever got a fight against somebody much better than them.
Any mismatch gets thrown out the window when Floyd agreed to put the strap on the line against a man making his pro debut. I'm talking about Floyd Patterson, of course.
In Fairness, Loma was Hoping to Unify with Richard Commey Tonight, But Commey Hurt His Hand Winning the Vacant IBF Title on the Kovalev-Alvarez II Undercard, Then Said he’d Need a Tune-Up 1st. Loma-Crolla is a Shit Fight for Certain, but the Dearth of Top Rank’s Lightweight Roster is the Root Cause. REED
Pressure’s On Loma to FINISH “Million Dollar” Crolla, Which has Only Happened 1nce, Like 7 Years Ago. REED
Well, at least I can't fault Loma for the Davis fight not taking place in the future. That's clearly something Mayweather Promotions is avoiding.
Crolla looks like a late sub looks. Surprisingly enough though, he is #4 contender according to the Ring. Loma has very little to win here, as Crolla is a spoiler who is difficult to get rid of. Chances are it will be a boring shutout
When Loma will face someone with a pulse? I am so tired of these gimmie soft opponents that I stopped watching these bouts.
Many people love mismatches. They just like to see their favorite fighters whip ass and look invincible. "The Telesco fight is my favorite RJJ performance!" So it is no surprise this is what boxing has devolved into. When and if a top fighter faces a good opponent, and appears vulnerable as all fighters will when they face the best, it's, "This guy is not as good as I thought. He's not as good as fighter B (who himself has not yet stepped up)." So promoters have figured out they can dispense entirely with competitive fights save for the occasional PPV, and as we see with Crawford/Khan, these are not necessarily risky matchups either.
Crolla though the ref was stopping it as did everyone in attendance. He had a "oh come on!" reaction. Would have been better for him if it was stopped as he could have claimed it was premature. Instead he took additional shots.
Yeah, boxing promoters are thinking about the appeal of rewatch value by hardcore boxing fans when they make matchups Your take is beyond idiotic
Lomachenko was impressive It was a mismatch from the start but as Reed pointed out, Crolla had been stopped only once in his career and had in fact only been beaten by Linares (twice on points) in the last seven years
VERY Impressive Win for Loma... Not Easy Dominating a Dude You're SUPPOSED to Dominate, Necessarily...Nonetheless, Loma Whupped Crolla's Ass...KO of the Year Thus Far, for 2019... REED
Since You're Talking Shit.... What are Your Thoughts on the Roy Jones-WHOlio Gonzalez Fight???.... REEDo_O
Crolla is terrible, but Loma was electrifying. His most explosive performance since Roman Martinez. I really wish we could see Loma-Davis.
