Looks shitty. Will bomb at the box office and you will be able to watch it on Netflix within two months of its release.
I liked this one a lot. However, this is NOT the quirky, funny movie that the trailer attempts to convince you of. It's a small, contained, efficient, dark, stylized, mythologized Western. More "High Plains Drifter", then "Silverado". The performances by Phoenix and Reilly (an American treasure BTW), and a little bit of subversion of Western tropes in the script, are what keep this from spiraling into a full on Greek type tragedy. Gyllenhaal and Riz Ahmed are workmanlike in their parts, but this is really Joachin and John C's movie. They are basically the bogeyman bounty hunter villains of most Westerns, played through a bit of a sympathetic lens, even as they kill dozens of people along the way.......many of whom, didn't really deserve it. 8/10
Noble has pretty reliable movie taste, and it has an 86% on RT. I'll watch it - probably sometime later this week.
Directed by Jacques Audiard (Prophet, Rust and Bone) of course it's gonna be good. Big fail by you and panchy.
Just saw it. I concur with Noble's score and assessment. EXCELLENT movie! Better than any "Netflix Original" there's ever been. 8.5/10
I forgot about Mudbound, which was great. I was actually intending to watch Roma sometime in the next week.
