McGirt would probably feel absolutely gutted if he had let Dadachev come out for the 12th, because he would forever believe he could have prevented it by stopping it in the 11th.

At least he can live with himself knowing that he did the right thing, but the damage was already done. Theres no way Buddy could have known this was coming.

Theoretically, mcgirt could have stopped it before the 11th

McGirt did his best...Dadachev didn't start taking visible punishment till rounds 9-10-11. And even then Matias was real busting him up mostly to the body...

That Russian kid had a "hurtable" look to him. Long slim neck and head. Had a Johnny Owen look to him. Chances are damage occurred early in the fight.

He looked fragile...like a 126 pounder fighting at 140 and not having a vastly superior skill set to his opponent.

It does make me re-evaluate. a bit, but these guys love what they are doing and they are good at it. Seems wrong to ask them, or tell them, not to do it. Shit happens. He lived his dream, and that's how it ended. Nobody's getting out of here alive, and even few of us will die doing our thing. I hope he just slipped away in the end.

The older you get it does become harder to shrug your shoulders and say "that's boxing" because it then makes you think "how much medical/health is spent on these guys compared to other multi-million-dollar sports?"

I doubt he felt much of anything after losing consciousness in the ambulance. But it couldnt have been a pleasant feeling before that.

It's tough to watch, cause at first you're thinking his face looks in agony because he's exhausted, when now we know, he looked in agony because he was dying.

What's ironic is, the night after Dadachev gets killed in the ring, both the ref/corner allow Omar Figueroa to take a pointless beating against Ugas. Figueroa took more punishment than Dadachev... some guy's brains can just absorb more than others...

But that fight should have been stopped. Figueroa was never remotely in the fight, and took a 12 round pounding.

then you got the ronnie rios vs diego delahoya fight ,which was a war incidentally. delahoya was dropped, got up and after speaking to the referee the fight was stopped.

during the post fight interview he was asked what he told the referee. "i dont feel well," he said. beto duran doing the interview pressed him about where he didnt feel well. "en la cabeza"

when you dont feel well in the cabeza it may be time to capitulate.

Agreed. While not feeling right "en la cabeza" might seem like something obvious for a guy absorbing blows to the head, I think there's often times they know via experience there's something different going on upstairs. In some cases they've decided to ignore it and in others the symptoms showed up too late.

I'm no neurologist, but I would think that an early warning sign of a hematoma might be excessive blinking. You saw it in Dadachev, you saw it McClellan, and a few others.

If I'm a cornerman, and my guy is taking shots, and I notice him blinking a lot, I'd stop it right away.

Couldn't simply put aside twelve years of study and work to become one?

    Fuck you're lazy.

Strictly, no mans brain can absorb more or less. Some guys just have more bone in there and it armours the brain better.

Did you ever whack a coconut with a mallet and nothing happens, then it rolls off the counter top and smashes to bits on he floor?

Heads are like that. One blow does nothing, an innocuous tap causes havoc.

Absolutely.......McCellan had a fight against some bum who barely brushed him with a shot.....and he was blinking and flittering like fuck in the post fight interview.

It came back with a vengeance in the Benn fight.

I mean..." he never blinked" was always a by-word for "he wasn't bothered"......so there must be some old link between being hurt and blinking.

It's true... no union, huge drop off in financial reward below the top 1 percent... the business of boxing is downright sick

Sorry but Wilder goes around talking about killing people in the ring. He did it as recently as his last fight. He's not in a position to talk about the risks in boxing.

Goes to show how close Prichard Colon was to death. Sick.

Some people are seemingly “built” to take punishment, and others aren’t. We’ve seen guys caught with flush, sick punches repeatedly without batting an eyelash and then we see guys who appeared to BARELY get touched by a seemingly “light” punch do bambee on ice dance.

Makes you wish certain guys would just retire and pick another career already.
