Briggs was a bum who rode on the coattails of Tyson and Bowe to receive attention. If he wasnt from Brownsville he never woulda received the hype he did.

This is a man who got KO'd by Darrel Wilson (whom Tua then proceeded to destroy in 1 round), got one of the biggest gifts in history over a 100-year-old Foreman, got a gift draw over Botha (in another fight he clearly lost), and dropped a decision to Sedrick Fields.

Call me crazy, but I dont think Wilder is losing to Wilson, Botha, and Fields.

He was ko'ed in the Wilson fight due to asthma caused exhaustion. He didn't even try against Botha or Fields. In my book he won the foreman fight by 1 point. Foreman got the sympathy scoring. However since everyone shit on him in the Foreman fight he showed up in his next fight to either kill or be killed against the ultra confident Lewis who just slaughtered Golota. That one night shannon gave a fuck. That shannon kills the timid calculating one punch a round pussy ass Wilder.

I think I stopped reading after you said Briggs beat Foreman.

The best you can make a case for is Briggs scoring an upset of Joshua... now that's possible.

Wilder has now twice dispatched Ortiz, and Ortiz is considerably better than Briggs.

As for Briggs-Lewis... for the last time, Lewis clearly didnt take Briggs seriously. The fight was viewed as a total mismatch - Lewis was like a 20 to 1 favorite or something absurd. He fought lackadaisical and STILL beat the shit outta Briggs every round outside of the first.

When Lewis took a guy seriously, like he did Golota, you saw the outcome.

That was not the same Lewis that showed up for Briggs, and Briggs still couldn't win.

Rewatch Foreman vs Briggs and pretend they're the same age and you will see Foreman didn't do much especially early in the fight.

You're asking a lot. I haven't watched Briggs-Foreman in years. It wasn't exactly a fight that set the world on fire.

All that fight showed that was if Foreman was even 3-4 years younger, he would have stopped Briggs.

Shannon Briggs pretty much sucked. Never understood why they promoted him so much - I think it was the dread locks.

If Briggs had one of the best chins in heavyweight history, then I guess Frans Botha hit like Sonny Liston, cause he was rocking Briggs all over the place.

It's not rocket science, Doub. It has nothing to do with his dreads - he's from Brownsville, Brooklyn - just like Mike and Bowe, and early on (before he stepped up in comp) he had a lot of explosive, quick KO's.

That explains why he was much hyped. He was a promoter's dream, as they could claim that he could punch like Mike with the size of Bowe.

I actually watched Briggs vs Wilson last night for the first time in over 20 years. I wanted to see if there was validity to this "asthma attack" claim. No, Briggs just shot his load in the first round like a dumbass, then in the 2nd when Wilson started hitting him back he had zero answers.

I feel he could have beaten Wilson in a rematch if he woulda settled down, and to be fair, he did settle down a bit following that fight to pace himself more.

Regardless, at no point could Briggs beat Wilder. His chin was never sturdy enough.

I'm not saying he goes out in 1 like that bum Breazele - Briggs was a lot better than Breazele - but I definitely think Wilder would have iced him inside of 6.

To Doub's Point, Briggs Had a UNIQUE Look (for That Day Anyways) Though, Which Drew Attention to Him...

The Tyson-Bowe Brownsville Link Absolutely VALIDATED Briggs as a Fighter, but the Dreads and Muscles Added MAINSTREAM Appeal for Sure...HBO was Building a Hype Train Around Briggs But Wilson Derailed it Before it Fully Got Started...

I liked him calling the guy who gave him one of the worst 12 round beatings in modern heavyweight history 'soft as baby shit' haha. PMA.

Briggs deserved a lot of credit for taking that. He got paid $100,000. So he's not smart either.

He was 1 punch from going out at the end of the fifth.

I remember Feebles saying that the fight proved that Vitali did not have "Concussive Power".

Briggs spent a week in hospital.......with a concussion.

LOL but I see Feebles point.

Now.......the Brock fight was on Armistice day 2006. Not 2005.

It was one of those beatings that really makes you fear for a guy. His corner shouldve stopped that.
