I never even watched it. Same thing with Bright. Two films by the same director that didn’t interest me. Still though, he always has Fury to be proud of.

Depending on Fightbeat reviews I may skip this one too.

You realise it's all in Arthur Fleck's imagination, right?
The subway killings, the 'romance' with Sophie, the appearance on The Murray Franklin Show, or Arthur being the illigitmate son of Thomas Wayne...

I hear they are making a movie called "LEX". It's about this kind-hearted man who is the victim of an evil snobbish writer at some hack newspaper.

The SJW PC crowd has created such an hysteria against this film it will translate into big box office as usual. Critics, which originaly were calling it a masterpiece and won some awards in EU, now are hating the film simply because they are sheep and need to follow the PC agenda. Currently has a rotten 69% at RT with critics, while audiences are just loving it to a 93% fresh at RT. Some youtubers are calling out RT for their double standards since, for example, one critic gave Marvel films (Spider-Man: Far from Home & Avengers: Endgame a 3/5 rating which RT considered it 'Fresh', but same critic gave Joker exactly the same 3/5 score, yet RT put it as a 'Rotten'. WTF?

The film made $13 million on Thursday night alone and is headed to over $90 million grosses this weekend which will beat Venom's October record.

Spoiling movies that are still in theaters should warrant a banning. This attention whore definitely deserves one.

Joker turns out to be a must-watch movie...if you're a proper fan of proper movies.

Joker proved to be critics & media SJWs boycott immune: it debuted with an all time October record of $93.4 million (could have been more if some movie theater owners haven't declined to show the film in fear of another Aurora copycat as the media was alarming people). It also took $140 million internationally for a global gross of $233.4 million. At the end the Joker had the last laugh!

Man, super bleak. Like the director saw taxi driver and thought 'well thats good...but ought to be grimmer'. And on that topic, the allusions and references to taxi driver and king of comedy weren't half worn on the sleeve, eh? I mean there must be close to half a dozen scenes which are direct nods to scenes in one of those films plus half a dozen other references- everything from the 'pppssshhhhew' finger suicide gesture, play acting a talk show appearance in his living room, shooting his own television, being told to get a gun by a grizzled college in the staff room before going out to hit the street. Etcetc. All a bit much for me.

Pheonix gets 5 stars, the film 3.

Its bssically the movie equivalent of oasis.... rip off a collection of motifs and hooks from your idol in the most open and transparent way possible, jumble them up into a different, catchy melody then get yourself a front man with some swagger to deliver it. A decent radio hit to sing along with but in the end unsatiating and artistically vacuous.

Solid movie. Great performance by Phoenix.

The main problem for me is that this version of "Joker" would ever be any problem for Batman. There is no criminal mastermind when the Joker is neil level of retard.

Sort of, but Tarantino's homages and mixture of styles usually say something, which is the idea of postmodernism. Joker merely borrows stuff without getting anywhere

Saw this and I honestly don’t know how I feel about it. I was never bored but not sure how much I was entertained either. The performance by Phoenix was obviously very good and there were some cool scenes. It’s probably the kind of film that gets better with rewatches.

    Shout out to Zazie Beetz

She’s like the second coming of Halle Barry.

One other thing about this film. I thought for sure the missus wouldn’t like this (it was her idea to go) and I warned her as much. Turns out I was wrong this time. She actually really liked it.

I thought it was pretty good. Didn’t understand all the controversy about “incels” when the movie deals pretty much nothing about Arthur’s inability to get laid.

Definitely some homage thrown to The King of Comedy, which is pretty high on my list of favorite Scorsese movies.

Pretty much my same impression. Phoenix delivers an amazing career best performance , but the film wasn't that much by itself. the comicbook Joker is a brilliant homicidal psychopath. This Joker is just an average mental health patient that ran out of medications that kept him stable. I cannot picture Phoenix Joker being a match against Bale's Batman.
