It's a weird ass question cause they're two completely different genres.

Obviously as a black dude who grew up Queens, CTA is more culturally significant to ME and to black people in general. There's still some parts that are hilarious (the barbershop and the church), although truth be told, some parts of the movie have dated.

If I'm speaking as an objective movie fan, Back to the Future is a cinematic classic that's better made and certainly more iconic.

I agree with this other than the part about BTTF being better made. I think both films are on equal footing as far as quality of production with CTA getting high marks in their representations of multiple locals like Zumunda and Queens and BTTF in their recreation of the 60’s as well as the sci-fi special effects.

Bennett’s criticism of this thread seems to be based more on a biased hate of Rainmaker and although you’re correct X that it’s two different genres I think it’s a fun film comparison strictly based on how difficult it is to pick a winner.

Both films are well produced, acted and highly rewatchable, however I definitely watched and enjoyed BTTF more and find Fox’s Marty more charismatic and enjoyable than Murphy’s Hakeem. I also think BTTF’s more subtle humor has aged better than CTA’s more over the top humor.

Both are top quality films but I have to be in the mood to watch CTA and there are portions of it I’d like to skip through whereas with BTTF if I see it on I could get hooked into watching it from start to finish even if I didn’t actually plan to. So my choice is BTTF as the slightly better produced film and the more enjoyable watch.

 

Than go watch it and get back to us.

My favourite scene is the scene where they arrive at that shitty motel in queens. The moment they go in, all their stuff is stolen. Than a broke ass man falls down the stairs and the owner is mad at him because he didn't pay his rent ::

Cool stuff, I think CTA definitely has the higher highs of the two but there is something about the atmosphere that kind of gives it a bit of dread at times for me. Maybe it’s that so much of the last act is shot at night. You can almost feel the griminess of the hood at times. Probably my biggest issue with the film is the leading woman is so unappealing both in charisma and looks. She doesn’t drag the film down at all but she certainly didn’t bring much to the table either. Hakeem’s dad was right all along, Hakeem could have done better.

 

Yeah, Shari Headley was Indeed BORING and Patently AVERAGE Looking (@ Best)...And as a Wife, "Lisa" Probably Didn't Suck Dick OR Want Body Fluid on Her Either...
