I hate when I hear a song with a good part and the rest of it is dogshit. I like the main synth line in that, could have been the basis for something really cool but he ruins it all literally within a matter of seconds with the shitty "singing" and crap over the top.

I love The Rolling Stones but for whatever reason I can’t stand that tune

 

Have to confess, my anticipation of you feeling that way was half my motivaton for posting. I just heard it on a short docu about the lower east side and in the context of those images and the terse cbgb-ness of it, it took me about a minute to even peg it as the stones...i figured i was hearing some pals of television who didnt make the grade

 

Musically it’s fine, it sounds like the Stones... it’s the repeated shadoobee shattered bit that gets so annoying to me

As an aside, Jagger’s guitar is too loud in the mix on most of that whole album ... it’s like a Stones record where some enthusiastic amateur has dubbed in his own limited rhythm guitar playing so he can fantasize that he’s joined the group or something but he didn’t know how to EQ it

 

I've had this album on vinyl and CD...way before it became 'indie-hipster cool' in the 1990s:



But...never actually heard it in it's entirety yet!

 

I had that at one time based on recommendation... never warmed to it because none of the songs resonated much and the singing is really irritating... the guitar interaction was groovy though and I liked the sound of the whole band and the energy ... just didn’t like Tom Verlaine’s voice or the songs
