I don't think Ali would have made good analyst. Not just the ego, but can't help himself being a natural showman. Hard to imagine him not overshadowing a broadcast even if not intentional.
Agreed. He might have been a great stand up performer or part of a variety show but not a boxing broadcaster. For an analyst I don't think Ali would have been very good since he knew most of his boxing intuitively more than was analytical about it. As a color commentator he would have stolen the show

That was so long I wasn't even boxing yet. Foreman didn't knock all of them out, he gassed out himself. It was during the day on Wide World Of Sports. People can say what they want about him, but Ali would never fight George again and he should have as George gave him a shot, but ali would not give him one. Instead: Ali was allowed to fight Bums like Coopman, Dunn and Evangelista and should not have been permitted to do that
Georges own fault really in the end by losing to Jimmy Young and not fighting for about 15 months after the Rumble. Ali couldn't have run forever if George kept winning. George had a great year in 1976. And Holmes tried it on a few years later too........he was fighting the Jeff Bongos and Joe Bangos of this world until Spinks shocked him. He thought Spinks was small fry and but Spinks had broken new ground with Mackie Shilstone and wasn't the pushover Larry thought he would be. Then Larry attacked Peter Marciano in an ill tempered and ill-advised rant.
It shouldn't have even gone that far to Young. Foreman should have gotten a shot after he KO'd Frazier in 5 as he had already knocked out Ron Lyle. As far as Holmes goes: he received 2 gifts as Champion versus Witherspoon and Williams, two fights which he clearly lost, and I thought Norton beat him as well. First time a decision didn't go Larry's way he said something classless like that again after two gift calls which he clearly lost and I liked Holmes.
I guess ALi gets a pass cos he's Ali. Holmes finished the Norton fight stronger than Kenny did in what was an ATG round and an ATG 15th round, one of the last we ever had that fits the description. And Holmes winning was probably better for boxing. By the mid 1980's., Larry was no longer about the quality per se.... he was looking for the record and it cost him.
Had Ken been given that fight he would have KO'd Evangelista and Ocasio, then gotten bombed out by Shavers who in turn loses it to Holmes. He won that 15th round on my card, then and now.
Ken was supposed to play Apollo Creed in Rocky, but was far too big for 5'6 Stallone. Ryan O'Neal was originally pencilled in for Rocky Balboa but Stallone held out and won.
Sly is more like 5'9" but wouldn' Carl Weathers have been well over 6' anyways? Norton wasn't anything over 6'3". Besides it's entirely possible that Sly could have worn Norton down and draped him over the ropes like LeDoux did.
No. I saw him in 1982 he is nowhere near 5'9 without heels and lifts. Weathers about 5'10. You have to be kidding if you really believe little Stallone does that to a professional boxer beast like Ken Norton. Stallone is an actor. Mike Weaver boxed Weathers in an exhibition around early 80's and he was taller than Carl.
