Both of these guys were absolute beasts at this time. Fenech already a 3 division champ,..and his fighting style was very similar to a young Duran. Shame that he was never the same after this fight.
Fenech was nothing like a young Duran. Outside of both being all time great pressure fighters their styles were very different. As for the fight itself, it was a great performance by Jeff, whether Nelson was sick or not. Nelson totally murked him in the rematch though.
I don't really buy it myself. You don't last 12 grueling rounds with fucking malaria. I just think Fenech had his number in that first fight.
God I like african. such a beatiful culture (yeah I know there's a ton of different culture in africa, but they have a lot of similarities)
it's strange how Fenech seems so much physically weaker in the rematch...it's night and day is that down to Nelson being weaker in the first fight, or Fenech being drained for the rematch?
