Yeah I actually pick Taylor. His chin was good, he would definitely outwork Cuevas and Cuevas wasn't nearly as good in finding openings as Chavez was

You didnt need to search exceedingly hard to find openings on Mel Taylor. This ain't Benitez we're talking here.

Cuevas had underrated quickness, and closed the gap a lot quicker than given credit for.

Ain't no way in Hell Mel's chin is holding up under Cuevas' power.

Yet, Chavez was much, much more skillful pressure fighter than Cuevas, hit pretty hard himself and needed 11 rounds, two minutes and 45 seconds to floor Taylor

Taylor at junior welterweight and Taylor at welterweight weren’t the same guy ...

Cuevas hit orders of magnitude harder than Chavez

Ugo... you do understand that although Chavez was P4P better than Cuevas, that Cuevas hit like 50x harder, right?

Yeah, it's not like not understanding that although Duran was better P4P than Jackson, that Jackson could still take out an opponent quicker.

Sure, but it is not as simple either that since fighter A hit harder than Fighter B, Fighter A knocks fighter C out faster. You do understand that

Ten punches by Chavez might still do more damage than one punch by Cuevas, right?

IMO Cuevas is one of those Tua-like guys who gets easily overrated because of his punching power. And no X, that doesn't mean I equate the two

Cuevas is pretty commonly disrespected in MMs. He isnt highly rated enough.

Mel was leaky defensively and had a solid chin, but nothing more.

Moreover, when he got hurt he couldn't spell clinch. All he knew was fight back harder, even when hurt.

Cuevas was one of the all time great finishers once he got a guy in trouble

Cuevas is insanely overrated, Mel would be by far the best guy he beats. No way this is a foregone conclusion

He's not insanely overrated when in every MM someone says "Fighter A wins. Cuevas was insanely overrated."

I think in my mind Taylor would win the first four rounds until Cuevas Foreman's him

Was his resume better than Norris's?

  21. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

Yes, he fought and beat actual contenders in his own weight class (which was deeper than Norris’s) instead of picking and choosing guys that used to be good lightweights and junior welterweights to beat up on

No one does that, and even if it was the case, it doesn't have anything with him being overrated or not

Norris resume shits on Cuevas, and it's not even debatable
