Day 23 - a Song Everyone should listen tae... well, ALL o' ma selections o' coourse! Och - an educational song warning aboot 'FILTEE whores' - The Jack ba AC/DC:
A song from a band you wish were still together. The Beatles. Unrealistic for two are stone DEID. Whit a band.
My old flame that I was dating in high school kept coming back to me time and time again over the years. We dated like four times over 25 years. She was married with four kids and shit. But if she didn't care why should I? Her name was Gina and she could suck the chrome off a trailer hitch... Day 21: "Lunch With Gina" -Steely Dan
Good song but I´m not sure I would wish they were still together! For me,the greatest fan and aficionado of The Beatles.... Abbey Road (to a point) and Let It Be show a band in free-fall...
It shows the poower o' the band that these these discussions are being had o'er fifty years later. The later albums were diminishing but Ah reckon they laddies still haddae lot left in the submarine... John had tae take about six or seven years oot befoor getting the drive and mojo back. George seemed tae enjoy finding himself and organising huge, live events - something the Beatles had given up five years befoor they split. Paul, well, IMAGINE some o' they Wings songs but combined wi' additional Beatles influence and contributions and no' Linda (just kilting). We wouldae had a few more solos from Ringo - 'The Song', fer example. 'Fab! Long time ago when we wuz Fab!'
A song you like from an artist who's no longer living... An easy, but yet again, unoriginal choice in David Bowie. The song is a bit more interesting though, 'Blackstar'. It is so dour tae begin wi' and belongs at a funeral and then it becomes uplifting at a snap o' the Thin White Duke's bony fingers... plus it's another song wi' Major Tom guest starring.
Sums up Bowie perfectly though: makes one of his best albums of the last 35 years...then dies a few days after it´s released. He experimented in pretty much everything from Pop, Folk, Rock, Glam, Soul, New Wave, Electronic and Techno...which most people would say ´Genius´. But instead, like I´ve always said, Bowie was always ´fashionably conditioned´ to whatever was going on at the time...basically kept his head in the right direction for as long as it was neccessary.
Typically lame. That guy was famous for about 14 minutes, a regular on breakfast TV shows in 2005. Well done, cunt...at least you're consistent with musical dogshit.
Day 26 - A Song that makes Ye wantae fall in love. First o' all - barf, barf! And tomorrow's no better, but we'll get tae that in due coourse. Buddy Holly singing 'True Love Ways':
Where's yer choices, big boy? A few years ago, Zoolander style, Ah questioned whit it was Ah wanted oot o' the forum? Ah realised that ma wee bits o' banter were often destroying the threads. Noo, Ah'll never stop being a shite but Ah least Ah'm contributing. This thread couldae been a contender, Charlie.
Day 27... Ah’m tired oot, noo. A song that (barf) breaks ma heart (boke)... Time fer Brother Buddy tae deliver ‘Raining In My Heart’:
Day 28: A song ba an artist who’s voice Ye love... Tempted tae put doon Susanna Hoffs o’ the Bangles but Ah’m gonnae throw in a curveball - Leonard Cohen. When Ah first discovered ma Dad’s Cohen LP’s and listened tae them Ah thought -‘Hoo the fuck is this tone deaf gadge a successful singer?’. Whilst his singing never did improve, o’er the years Ah’ve grown tae love the voice like. ‘Suzanne’ ba Leonard Cohen.
I have been listening to these guys a lot lately. Especially the first LP. And though the brothers are still at war (on social media), I feel they will reunite in the near future. I know Tony McCarroll has burned his bridges with Noel by writing that book but I just hope they get Guigsy & Bonehead when they reunite. It doesn't matter if their replacements were better musicians. They need the swagger and the attitude back and with Oasis it's not just the Gallagher brothers. It's the original Irish lads from Manchester that went from rags to riches. Day 24 "Acquiesce" -Oasis
I actually thought about The Smiths as a band I wish were still together but even though all four were still alive, it's still less believable than The Beatles. Morrissey and Marr are on decent terms but I doubt they'd ever work together again. Then Morrissey always treated the other two like session musicians who were lucky to know him. And he wished death on Mike Joyce who took him to court over royalties. Another case of a band made of Manchester Irish blood who can't get along.
The penultimate day - A song you remember from your childhood... the first song Ah can remember liking: Buggles 'Video Killed the Radio Star'.
Not sure if you ever watched the documentary, ,"These Things Take Time" but it's worth s watch. I think it's on youtube.
Thanks laddie - Ah will take the time tae watch the thing. Ah did read Morrissey’s autobiography, originally titled ‘Autobiography’... fascinating stuff but he didnae really convince me why Joyce was so worthy o’ his wrath. Ah liked the bit where he thought he saw a ghost on the moors... that laddie wiz really affected badly ba the infamous, Moors Murderers, like.
Morrissey also said he hoped the author who wrote the unauthorized story of The Smiths dies in a hotel fire. I have a few of his solo albums. I don't like them like I like The Smith's albums. But I keep hearing an uproar from British fans about how he is ultra-right wing now. I haven't really kept up with any of that.
Wow. O’er two thoosand views and the end o’ a thirty day Odyssey, wi’ ma trusty deputy, Wiser. A song which reminds me o’ masen, well Will Kane from ‘High Noon’ so it has tae be the song ba TexRitter:
