The Mexican DI was hilarious. Needed more of him.
A younger, nicer R Lee Ermey was cool too. But obviously much better in FMJ.

One of the first movies I watched on VHS back in the mid-80s!

    Absolute classic.

Just watched several segments on YouTube. Looks good. Of course, Netflix does not have.

I think you're missing the point about Netflix and movies.

I had no interest in this film back in the day because from the movie poster it looked like another army comedy ala M*A*S*H*

Most people don't know the difference between Netflix and HBO.

What point is that? If Netflix has a shitty and small selection of films, it is certainly a limitation.

    Exactly.
But you always come out with "Huh! It isn't on Netflix either. Typical!" even if we were talking about some random arthouse movie from 1977.

Terrific movie another great one I liked even better was "Tribes" with Jan Michael Vincent, Darren McGavin and Earl Holliman- it's on youtube.

That film is awesome. Darren McGavin was great as the drill sergeant.

The ironic fact about that cast is: Only Jan Michael Vincent who played the hippie had been in in the Army, Darren and Holliman did not serve. And both of them hit it out of the park - two great actors.
