Carlos Ortiz was the junior welterweight champion of the world a few years before he beat Joe Brown to become the lightweight championship of the world.

Norris did win the WBA Cruiser title but he lost it to Nate Miller and collapsed during/after that fight with the after effects of weight draining. Then he moved back up and threw fights vs Vitali and Mike Tyson, the same way he quit vs Bert Cooper.

Bernard Dunne moved down to 122 and won the WBA title there after it had become very clear that he was never strong enough for 126

I watched it and I scored it. Let's do it. I'll re-watch it. I'm sure it's on YouTube. I'll do a round by round breakdown no problem.

I think it's a lot more common in mma. There is a guy in UFC by the name of Frankie Edgar. Was a 155lbs champ. Then moved down to 145lbs. Had couple title shots but couldn't win the gold so now he's down at 135lbs trying his luck. That's crazy especially considering he's in his late 30s.

    @Anthony i still can't edit my posts.

But yeah, you and REED having fun re-scoring it. I can't, it's too painful to watch cause Roy looked like total shit. But I scored it 7-5 at the time, and rewatched it and still scored it 7-5.

Yes, meaning I haven't watched it in 16 years, and have no interest in watching it again.

Roy Tarver 1 could have gone either way. Claiming one or the other clearly one is clear biais

Get them right first time and you won't have to edit them. GET THEM RIGHT!!!

PS yes Jones is consensus winner of the first fight and Kellerman even said he won the 12th round "one right hand at a time". And Kellerman loved him a tall dark southpaw.

Yeah but we have to pick a winner and it was Roy and judges said it was Roy, so , like, he.........won.

"The lottery can be won by anyone, so if you win it, it's bias"- No. ...somebody MUST win, eventually.

Unless its a draw, and you'd still be saying Tarver WON!!!

Tarver lost too many rounds by spending large amounts of time in the middle of the ring doing nothing. Roy wasn’t doing much more, but he was doing a little more, and that was enough to win those rounds.

You can say Tarver choked it away, or Roy stole the fight with his bodywork, but it is one of the most overblown “controversial” decisions ever.

After Hearns won titles at 147 and 154, he won a title at 175, then his next title was at 160.

Keith Holmes was a champion at 160. He went vegan and came down to 154. I don't think he won a title there though.

Henry Armstrong jumped from FW to WW to win the title from Ross, then back down to 135 to take that one from Ambers.

After losing the FW title to Willie Pep, Sandy Saddler jumped up and won the jr. LW title, then dropped back down to regain the FW title from Pep.

After losing the CW title to Virgil Hill, Fabrice Tiozzo dropped back down to 175 and beat Branco for his title.

Not sure how much recognition it had, but Dariusz M. won some sort of CW title before winning the LHW title from Hill.
