Unless I'm forgetting someone, these are the two best British welterweights of the last 35 years. Who wins?

I think Honeyghan stops Brook late. Just a better fighter IMO, and his swarming, offbeat style would cause fits for the measured Brook.

Not sure. Brook didn't beat any great fighters but held his own (temporarily) versus both more skilled and bigger punchers than Honeyghan.

I think it comes down to the feeling that even a 75% Donald Curry was better than a 100% Kell Brook.

Undoubtedly, but i don't think that matters head to head in this matchup.

I think Brook's fight with Porter proved he could win a rough-and-tumble battle with that kind of fighter, though.

Conversely, Honeyghan's fight with Starling showed he could be picked apart by a counterpuncher who succeeded in withstanding his early onslaught.

I think if Brook can get through the early rounds without taking too much damage he has an excellent shot at winning this down the stretch.

Honeyghan was a lot better than Porter, at his best.

Shawn Porter at this point is a guy just known for giving a spirited effort in losses.

Honeyghan actually owns clear wins over Curry, and Blocker. I think he's underrated.

Prime Honeyghan, IMO, doesn't lose to a guy as mediocre as Keith Thurman

I don't think that's a fair assessment - not only has he been a titleholder himself, but he's had some fairly big wins in his own right over the likes of Garcia and Alexander.

Of course, no single win of his was as big as Honeyghan's over Curry, but I don't think that automatically necessitates that Honey was a better class of fighter.

Also, I think describing Porter's losses as "spirited" is an understatement - some of them almost could've gone either way.

I think you make good points, and I definitely don't agree with the last sentence.

Brook, Thurman, and Spence all beat Porter, clearly.
