This is one of my favorite mythical matchups. Ortiz and Cervantes are like tied for 3rd on my favorite Latin fighters of all time, surpassed only in fandom by Duran and Benitez. Would love opinions from George, Ring, Tin, and Sweet Pea on who wins.
I think I'd favor Ortiz to get inside those long arms of Cervantes and impose his strength and skill at close quarters.
I would agree that Ortiz would be best served taking things inside. Against Joe Brown, Ortiz mainly boxed carefully at distance with his jab, but that's probably the wrong strategy to adopt here given that Kid Pambele was longer and quicker than Brown, and of course, a MUCH bigger puncher than Brown. Ortiz was by far a better infighting of the two, and could outright Cervantes at that range.
